Who is this module for?

This module is designed for health professionals who support people with cancer who smoke or vape, including nurses, medical officers and allied health professionals.

What you'll learn

This module will help you build the knowledge and confidence to provide smoking and vaping cessation support for people with cancer. 

You will learn how to: 

  • Understand the health risks of continuing to smoke or vape after a cancer diagnosis. 
  • Explain the health benefits of quitting smoking and vaping. 
  • Use the Ask, Advise, Help (AAH) model to understand a person’s needs and provide cessation advice and support. 
  • Understand how medicines can help manage nicotine withdrawal and support quitting. 
  • Explain the role of support services, including Quitline, and how to connect people with further help.
