I lost the 20kg I needed to, and maintained that weight loss for 3 months, prior to quitting. Concurrent with quitting, I have continued my weight maintenance program. Doing things in this order paved the way for me to quit without stressing about weight gain.
I've been using the money I save from quitting to justify buying: nicotine lozenges; significantly better quality and more expensive cuts of meat and fish; expensive out of season vegetables and berries; sugar free chocolate; boutique health food products; and clothes that fit.
