686 Days..... The meaning of 86....Get Smart!!!

Did Get Smart air in Australia.... with agents 99 and 86? A great old show when I was growing up.

To 86 is also slang as in the get rid of something. So 686 smoke free days seemed to merit a story. Interesting facts about where the term 86 came from...amusing.

86 was the deck of the empire state building where people jumped from

86 was a code for "out of" in a restaurant.

86 was possibly derived from the military soup pot which held 85 ladles and the 86 person was out of luck

86 could stand for the size of a doorframe 8 ft. 6 inches

86 on a rotary phone dial.... t and o ...take out

So glad I 86ed those smokes . I did not crave, I was so ready to end the never ending cycle. Tired of wasting money and worrying what health issues might arise. Seeing others on the site succeed gave me the belief that I could also win. It didn't matter that others smoked beside me, and hubby did quit two weeks later. He had quit years earlier reading Allan Carr, so wanted to read the book again. He should have joined a site like this to stay committed. We constantly are reminded how just one puff could be our undoing. Just not worth it and I get to help support others.

While we both think of smoking on occassion, we simply dismiss it immediately and laugh. No way are we going to be held prisoners again.
