schedule 12 Dec 2019

Well, today is the 7th day and I’m pretty happy about that. I would say 90% of it has been solid. However, in the last few days I’ve had a few doubts about making the right decision, and a little bit of envy for people still smoking. I’m trying to shut that stuff down but hopefully it goes away.

schedule 12 Dec 2019

ALRIGHT TK.

If 90% of your thinking is solid and under control, you have to work hard at the other 10% .

Those doubts need to be not only extinguished, but replaced with the reasons why Most people dont smoke.

There's hundreds of reasons.

There;s so many reasons to not smoke to last a whole year, let alone a whole lifetime.

Give yourself a month of total abstinence from smoking and dont debate it until then.

One month

The mind is super strong after that.

You have done this before, I recall you said? But this time is different for you. You have learnt to kill off the 10%

Keep moving, play music, play guitar, sing, exercise, drink water ,eat well, and tell those cravings to get lost and go somewhere else.

Target one month TK

schedule 13 Dec 2019

And if you go to the doctor tell he/she of your achievement of giving up the smokes and grab a months prescription of patches. Surely its much cheaper than $15 a week in your country?

schedule 13 Dec 2019

You've talked of buying a house with the money saved for a down in the next couple of years. Start looking at listings, dream of what you want. We reach for goal that are realistic and within means. Wanting something more than the desire to smoke gives us the strength to carry on. I am so proud of you being so young and bright to be taking this journey with us. We older ones don't have that many dreams ahead of us.....but i feel a story coming on.....

You have got this TryingTK.... In a month change your name to DoneIt TK.

schedule 13 Dec 2019

Read that ALLEN CARR book one more time . You may be strong enough to go without the expense of the patch. Your inspiration can be the money you can save!

you have smoked for periods of your life, off and on and smoking is not that great. So Tell yourself that its not needed and not an added accessory that you want.

You are young and smart, I'd recommend you stay off the dart.

You are trying, Dont be dying

Just continue not smoking

schedule 13 Dec 2019

Well ALRIGHT Trying TK! How good are you????

No one is happier to hear that than me.

We've got this my friend. You have really smashed it!!!!

We're EX SMOKERS now.

I'm on Day 9.

I'm not going to go back now ever.

Are you on the patches still???

Last time I think you got off them too soon.

We have to watch out for the nasty triggers.

Good on you and thanks for helping me out when I needed it. Keep up the good work!

This is time next year I'll we'll be boasting we're 12 months SMOKE FREE!

Now there's a Christmas present!!!🎄🎁

schedule 13 Dec 2019

Puffnomore- thank you. I'm feeling a bit better by the end of the day. I know that when I feel the envy, it's just an illusion to when I thought enjoyed cigarettes. But then I start to think about all the negative aspects of it again. In regard to your question about to the patch, no unfortunately. I could go to the doctor and get a prescription and it would be covered if I had a drug plan but I do not. Also, I may read that book again just to keep me focused. although I'm hesitant to change my approach with the patch because of how bad the withdrawals were last time.

Happiness- thank you, that is so nice to hear. Sometimes I think because I've managed to quit before that everyone in my life has heard it. They don't really celebrate with me, or show that they are proud, maybe because they think that I will be going back to it again. I like that idea.. January 15th I'm going to change my name!

Pisces24- Thank you, glad that you are still crushing it as well. Next Christmas will be a huge celebration! I am on the patches still. I gave myself a week with the first step now I'm going to step two and then I'm going to do two weeks on two, and then two weeks on three. Ex smokers sounds great for both of us!!

schedule 13 Dec 2019

Good on you. I'm really happy you're calm and cool.

I've been thinking of that JUST ONE today bit I haven't. I suppose it bites you a bit more sometimes.

I think this happens when I'm alone. I'll have to check remember that bin future.

Note to self.

You've got a good QUIT plan. Go with it mate.

Some of us need the sook effect of our patch a bit more than others. That's O.K.

I'm calm. Not snapping anyone's head off and DAY 9 smoke free so this is what's working for me.

Do your own thing.stay QUIT and

N.O.P.E.

AND....

check in with your mates!🙋‍♀️👍

schedule 13 Dec 2019

Do you know what's strange?? ?

Hardly anyone is going via Prescription from Dr for quit smoking. Does it have Nicotine in it?

There's been a lot of discussion on other methods but really none on this path.

Wonder why?

schedule 13 Dec 2019

I just cannot find the Allen Carr book link.

I know it was given to me before but it didn't work as the internet here was fluctuating .

I probably should just buy it.

Struggling today. Day 9.

schedule 13 Dec 2019

It is on my page Pisces...very recent in fact...click on my name here and look for my story with his name

schedule 13 Dec 2019

Sorry to bother you...

I went through squillions of stories and couldn't find it.

I needed It. Was having a hard day today and fought the caged animal. Just barely. Im just ok but why in DAY 9?? Anyway I'm ok. Thanks

schedule 13 Dec 2019

You know it is no bother Pisces :) I am sorry you are having a rough patch, but be sure that you read the book, that everyone should read the book. I didn't read it until after i had already quit. I came up with my backwards quit plan after I stopped smoking. It seems I knew some things instinctively and then learned things from others here.

I am still learning.

You and Trying Tk have been my beacon of light during those hours of turmoil. We understand each other, and thank you. It is for people like yourselves that come and seek guidance and support that makes the time and effort worth while, even if it seems tainted somehow. We need to let those feelings go , just like cravings, and look to the positive. We bonded. We can get stronger through adversary and we can take pride in our convictions and success. You two rock.

I do hope the two of you will stick around , ensure you quits while being of great value instilling belief in others. We need more like you to support and inspire.

Keep on Keepin On. You can do it!

schedule 13 Dec 2019

Pisces, how are you doing today? Remember it’s a roller coaster and unfortunately there are going to be some challenging days. I know that it’s didficult but when you feel like you’re having a bad day think about the better days and try to convince yourself that eventually you won’t have these days. You’ve got this, you’re a champion!!!

schedule 14 Dec 2019

I too want you to succeed. We all have bad days, whether we smoke or not.

Some wise old guy said "Smoking never solved anything, because after you finish the smoke, the problem is still there."

and

after that you have another problem.

and that is

Buying more trouble , when its required to buy another packet.

schedule 14 Dec 2019

Ahhhhh. 😍👍Such wise words of comfort and encouragement from my best friends on this Forum. Thank you.

Yeah! 🙆‍♀️

We've bonded together and were helping each other.

Thanks ALL. I'm ok today. I've identified that my struggle fighting off that caged animal mongrel Nicotine was because I was alone. I've got to be aware of this next time and put a plan in place before it happens again. Ill make those days pool days or something soothing to get me in front of the cravings.

We are what this Forum is all about. A safe environment to learn, seek comfort and guidance and beer of all friendship and support from others who want to HELP each other toward the same NICOTINE free goal and to be FREE of smoking forever.

It is up to our generation to guide the next and the next.

TryingTK what Day are you on now?

I'm on 10 my friend. Who would've thought that I could do this????

This time next Christmas we'll be one year year FREE of Nicotine. We CAN do you it.

I'm so glad you're with us again. You're helping us all but I especially me.

We need our Forum friends. I'm glad I didn't leave. It was close.

I k ow I'm not free of Nicotine yet as on the patches but No Smoking now is going to get mne ther. I'm going to go slow at first and when I get.my confidence up in about a month start reducing mg and then give the whole thing the heave to!👍🙋‍♀️

schedule 14 Dec 2019

Best not BEER! HA H A! 🍻

schedule 14 Dec 2019

Good luck TryingTK, you can do it. I recall in vivid detail exactly what you are describing. Standing outside with my smoking buddies thinking just one smoke and I’ll a part of that clique again. Fast forward a few years and I am happy I did not fall off the wagon. Nowadays I don’t understand why anyone would want to smoke. Yet I do know that one puff and I’ll be back to square one. Give it a bit of time and you’ll start feeling normal without a cigarette. Don’t go back to square one. Cheers and god luck.

schedule 14 Dec 2019

Pisces I’m on day 9 now!!! Hope your last few days have been going well. Thank you for the encouragement everybody.

Had my first party of the season last night and it went pretty well. I had some mild minutes of boredom, and a little bit of missing that part of the socializing, but other than that no real actual desire to smoke.

schedule 15 Dec 2019

That's great TryingTK. I am so glad you managed to enjoy your party and saw that there is life after smoking. I can't wait til January 15 and see the new Name DoneItTK.... I assume the TK are your initials?

schedule 15 Dec 2019

Good.morning TryingTK!

How's it going?????

I'm on Day 11 and survived two situations yesterday with a few wines at a party and a night out.

I did have MEMORIES of the old smoking days.. always scheming to nick out for a cigarette and planning the next one ...

But talked myself around by truly believing I am a NON SMOKER now.

I still enjoyed myself. It wouldn't have been better if I had a cigarette.

It was good to resist and wake up smoke free and continue on my journey.

Keep going strong...🍻🥂

We're DOING it!👏👏👏👏👏👏
