While I may respond too much, it is my privileg.' I feel if I do not respond, someone might feel slighted. I think encouragement , a simple thumbs up means so much to some in the beginning of this journey. I commend all who find the strength to even try. I congratulate all who have succeeded and of course I support all along the journey to gaining freedom from smoking and staying free of smoking. It is voring to check in on the quiet days and so ecciting (to me at least) to see others start the process or take pride in themselves for changing their lives for the etter. Your success reminds me of my success. Without the velief that we could kick nicotine to the curv I provaval wouldn't have veen inspired to do so. Thanks to some for a wonderful year and a half of friendships and support to a cause in which I greatly velieve in.

Many Many thanks to those who succeed and remind others that they can too!

Anyone can quit smoking! We are proof. Thanks again to all who participate.

I agree with softly, this forum wouldn't be the same without you. You guys help me a lot with my journey. Thank you..

I agree with you guys. I first met Happiness a few years ago when she was from Nova Scotia. We were both a fresh champing at the-bit new Ex-smokers.

I tried all sorts of strategies from numerous ways to supply nicotine to ease the blow. And I failed after a few months of not smoking everytime.

She was a glued on "cold turkey" advocate. I was out to prove her wrong. I can say now, I was a little wrong. And She was more right in her philosophy and advocacy of totally against any form of nicotine replacement. Happiness has softened her stance on nicotine replacement therapy to make more people inclusive these days. But. Geez. That NICOTINE DEMON IS a substance that demands attention and getting fed regularly.

Happiness and many others are correct in getting people to Quit Nicotine and smoking it too.

We love and respect you, and hope things are getting better for you in the big city?

Im going great now and just believe in myself to never light up ever again. Like you, I will never smoke again.

Thanks Happ

Happiness, you are an inspiration to newbies and long time quitters. NOPE - not one puff ever. Cheers

Thank you all for your kind words. Puff No More, I don't think I was against NRT'S, i Just saw them as another step to have to overcome eventually anyways. People have to chose what they think will work for them. And of course tweek it a little and try again if necessary. Emvracing the quit and thinking positive are parts of the mindset needed to achieve the goal. Understanding what nicotine does and does not do will help you stay the course. Thanks again all, what ever way you choose, I guarantee you that you will never regret quitting smoking.

was talking to an old teacher today at tennis. desley had a stint in hospital from acute asthma attack, she recently gave up tennis, because she no longer can move on the court. desley is not alot older than you.

Desley has lung cancer and said to me today that she is not addicted to nicotine! She says she misses the in-between times when she automatically went for her smokes. I asked "did you not crave the draw-back of the hit to your brain?"

No Craig, I was or am addicted to the social habit of smoking with others.

I asked "did you not draw back on the cig?"

I foolishly said, why cant you Quit smoking? she sadly said, I dont want to. I dont care. I'm old with cancer its not much point stopping something i like to do to fill the moments of void.

All power to those who can do whatever they want to . But, she acknowledges that its part of her generation. And she knows that the next generation had some consideration of staying clear,

She hopes that the next generation after her grand children have no such temptation or choice.

i would like to see tobacco smoking ended by the time my grand-children reach the age to buy and smoke the substance

What can you say to a lovely old lady who likes to organise our tennis combinations , keep score and do a great job few can ever hope to do?

Desley is a blessing to our tennis club and while I was never a pupil of hers at my primary school, Miss Rowley was the smoking Deputy Principal of my school throughout the 70;s. As was so many school teacher's in those days
