THE LOOMING QUIT

schedule 9 Jan 2020

Hi Guys,

I have a Quit effort on my horizon.

This ICanQuit website has been giving me ideas and motivation over the past month or so. And after seeing so many people Quit lately they have helped me regain my self belief to succeed this time. Why not me? This will be my turn and my time!

I cant lie as I do have some fear and trepidation as my Quit gets closer, and unfortunately my smoking has increased a little in anticipation.

However, I decided to order Allen Carrs book THE EASY WAY TO STOP SMOKING (revised edition) on-line and now have a waiting period of between 4 and 10 days for its delivery. So I have an excuse to smoke, just like every other smoker thinking of Quitting them one day. lol

I did have a Quit roughly this time last year, but that only lasted about 35 days. Whats interesting is that I left the counter ticking and if its correct I have spent $9,996 in a little less than one year on the death sticks! And I note that there has been at least 3 very hefty price increases since.

Anyway, even though I have some fear, I am very much looking forward to this Quit.

Thanks for reading, and best of luck to those who haven't taken the plunge just yet and to those who are in the early days.

And last but not least, to those experienced Ex-smokers. I thank you.

Good for you Puffnomore you know you want it, you can almost smell the freedom. I chose to and I'm confident you will too buddy as soon as you are ready. I got over thinking about it and told myself it's as simple as commit and deliver. You won't regret it and we will both enjoy some good reading soon. I know you can do it!!!!

Hi PuffNoMore. Wonder what you are afraid of. Is it failing? What do you think will happen when you take the plunge? If you can get it in your head to do so, you will enjoy a huge pay rise. Seems in the vicinity of $10000 pa. Bet your boss won't match that. You will be drowning in $'s. Not a bad way to be. You certainly won't be drowning in debt nor the knowledge and guilt of burning all that money in an ash tray. Spending what I call "ash money" is not a bad way to go. Wish you success with your plan. Another thought, don't wait for the book to arrive, jump in earlier and have a practice quit. Ultimately you have to do the quit and have to want to do so.

It concerns me that you are still delaying and fearing this journey instead of embracing it. I hope that you will contemplate every word that Allen Carr writes and do not skim. Read it. Understand every instance. Relate to the situation he presents. Absorb every word as if your life was at stake. Allow him to build that desire to be a non-smoker. Understand nicotine totally. Know and Accept the truth. Believe that you can be free. Above all Embrace this journey that will return to you so much more than you ever dreamed.

Start getting excited, for soon you too can be free!

Wow. What a wonderful response already!

I am not going to reply individually.

I have had a major shift in my thinking. And I am pumped and ready!

There is no terror or doubt or any debate in my mind anymore.

I could Quit tomorrow, but, just getting prepared atm.

I have great confidence in my ability to think for myself this time! And I'll welcome any bit of encouragement that comes my way next week.

I'm not scared of the physiological part of the addiction that really is only 2 or 3 days. And I now have the mental capacity to overcome the behavoural repetitive behavioral part of the habit too.

Its all good.

35 days quit is a really good accomplishment. This tells me that you can achieve a permanent quit if you put your mind to it. Good luck.

We all love you PUFF😘🙋‍♀️😍

Thanks for your support.

I'm certainly not using the word "craving" anymore. I think it is a very negative and much to strong of a word for an urge. That word reminds me of something permanent, like an insatiable desire to a puff that may not be Quelled.

So from now on I'm going to think of it as a thought. The urge (to smoke) is so similar to a surge and it can be over in an instant by putting your mind to work to extinguish that urge or brief thought. :)

An urge is just an impulse of a thought.

Thats all it is.
