stopped smoking 7 weeks ago, got mucus problem

Hi i stopped smoking 7 weeks ago and just went cold turkey, it has not been pleasant to say the least.

My anxiety and panic attacks are constant.

I am pleased that i have stopped and I have no desire to ever smoke again. I asked the doctor to prescribe some anti depressant and only gave me some last week sertraline which takes 4 weeks to get into your system. So i have not bothered taking them and the side effects are quite bad.

On friday 1.5.20 my mucus became quite thick and hard to bring up. This is worrying to me, and i have also got aches/pain down my left side in my back.

Any help and tips would be most appreciated

Welcome goodness786, It is still early days yet, and you need to remember your body is trying to normalize the whole situation and re-adjust, some of us had no problems, others had a lot of problems. I had a slight phlemb problem, but this righted itself. As to the pain in your back it could be related to different exercises or movements that are new to you. If this continues, I would go back to your doctor.

Your anxiety is something that needs to be addressed for a short while, and you can learn more about yourself in this regard by viewing "How to grow to be a happy non-smoker" by Nasia Davos
TEDxUniversityofPiraeus. Something will gell with you as you look through the video and this is what you need to focus on. Taking one day at a time and plan your day resting when you need to could help.

Stay regular with your doctor to regulate and get you thru this period of withdrawal and missing the "jolt" of a drag.
    good luck

I am glad you are seeking medical advice even though all quits are different . Any medical concerns should be addressed. Stick with your great decision to quit smoking. You will not be sorry. I hope you feel better soon. Sometimes we just need reassurance.

Food high in tryphophasn triggers the body to make seratonin which makes you happy. Just a thought.

Hi Goodness. In answer to your question about how I took Ginger and Tumeric.

I took it as a lung detox by boiling onions with turmeric and ginger down and taking an an ounce morning and night with a spoon of honey to chase it. After a week, I didn't feel like a smoke first thing in the morning..... and that is how I ended up on a quit smoking site and have quit for over a year now. A vile recipe but so worth it. Today I just take it for its antibiotic and immflamatory properties either in a broth made of chicken base or in a milk or nutmilk with honey. It must have black pepper to activate the curcumin in the turmeric. Quite tasty.
