"The Hill"

Hi again, it's been a while since I last shared my life with you guys. I stopped many of my previous addictions among them smoking 2021 new year. It's been over 7 months now and i'm still going ok. My cravings are all gone and my breathing is great, thanks to all cardiovascular walks up the hill every 2nd day at 45-60 minutes. It's a steep hill located not far from where I live and there's a number of different tracks I use. In the beginning I had to take few breaks and get my breath back on the way to the top. After about 10 times I managed to go all the way without stopping. I am so grateful for that and it's now become another addiction in my life, a healthy addiction for a change. But not everything is 100% good. For example when I found out by my doctor that my cholesterol is way too high and she sent me to the hospital for an ECG test. I was very worried but passed it. While my cholesterol levels are still high and my doctor want me to take statin pills for it. I refused and trying now hard beating it. I stopped sugar, saturated fat in all shapes and forms, milk products as well, and try minimizing the red meat, stopped the egg intake ( sadly I had to give our 4 chicken away) no lollies or icecream, no alcohol. No fun life yeah true, but sometimes you have to choose between life and death. I now eat lots of wheatbix, fruit, nuts, fish, black fresh grinded coffee, water, brown rice, porridge, soups and a variety of chicken breast recipes. So life is good with soymilk and without smokes for now. Yes not all that great but better than before. At the moment I am seeing a physiotherapist for my neck and upper back. Also twisted my kneecap many years ago and sometimes it comes back and haunts me, like now. Had 2 days off walking and I feel guilty. I am also having at the same time now a sinusitis infection on one side which bothers me. Well am alive and currently not in lockdown. So really nothing to complain about. Ok that's all for this time folks. You guys out there just started quitting to you all I would like too say keep going it does gets easier and easier each day and your breathing and senses become much better. Bye for now

WOW Ptah it sounds like you're getting a full overhaul 🙌good for you. I love your positive attitude. Congrats on your 2021 accomplishment of quitting the cigs and congrats on getting up that hill with more and more ease. I sure am glad it was chickens you had to give away because when I first read it I thought it said children 🤣 enjoy your evening and I look forward to reading more stories from you 😊

It sounds like you have made a great commitment to the betterment of You!
Sorry about your chickens and somewhat restricted diet, but even diets can taste good.
My sister recently moved onto a farm and they keep the old hens that don't lay, I guess even farm animals become a part of the "family" and we all tend to resist change.
Congratulations on your 7 months Tony. Wanting to stop smoking is different that abstaining those 3 months for an operation, but what do you mean by "for now?" It seems you are getting healthier every day and happier too i hope. You are a very strong willed. person to take on all these changes at once . Kudos to you!
Smoking never did anything for us and quitting the vile habit/addiction is the best thing we could ever choose to do for ones self. I know it was for me.
Congratulations on the alcohol end too if it was becoming a problem.
Doctors do push statins. Did you know that cholesterol is made by your body? 25% is from diet.
Everything in moderation.....except cigarettes of course! N>O>P>E.
Cigarettes are like Lays Potato Chips here in America. You can't have just one!
Keep on with the excellent progress you've been making Tony. With your determination, you will make any changes necessary to ensure a long and healthy life.

haha, At first sight I thought You had to give away some children n had to give away your keggs?
Keep your great diet going and keep intouch when you have a day away from your walking.
Stay focused on the positive's, so to leave no room for thinking about the worrying rubbish.

My goodness Ptah, you created a new and improved "YOU"! Congratulations on your over seven months of freedom! You have made many changes all for the better, out with the old, in with the new! It's great you can tackle all these things with so much gusto and positivity. You are an excellent example to show we CAN have control, we CAN make our own choices. Keep up the great work!

Hi again Ptah, what a turn-a-round. We can control some things in our life, all for the good. NOPE (not one puff ever) stays at the top of my list. When we have belief in ourselves we too can climb mountains. Well done
