985 days smoke free

Just short of 1000 days smoke free and a saving of $19,000! It is well and truly all behind me now. I no longer miss it at all. And what surprises me is that whenever we are out I see very few people smoking. I have just turned 60 and truly believe if I still smoked I would have been on oxygen. My breathing is so much more manageable. I am still using ventolin, when I need it, and have preventative medication (seretide). All of which helps. The past few years have been challenging also. My mum passed away, my daughter was diagnosed with MS, my husband had major surgery and was in ICU and last year my younger brother died of cancer. I smoked for 38 years non stop. This community helped me immensely. I would come here every time I felt like a smoke and before you knew it......the craving subsided. The seed is planted and your journey began when you joined this group. Keep at it and it will happen as it did for me.

We all started on day one!

Great story or journey Puffer.

It's so rewarding when we find our freedom.

Sometimes freedom is not found straight-away and have to fight for it, but once found, dont test it out. Fill in the blanks< _ot _n_ P_ff _v_r!

Thank you matik_one. I truly understand the feelings and thoughts when considering giving up. It is, as you say, a very long journey, It took me many years to come to terms with it. It was such a struggle. I still pinch myself today because of it.

Yes PuffNoMore, the journey is incredibly challenging day by day. But then you finally realise what is really important in your life and the rest will be history, as it was for me. Honestly when I was smoking, I thought they will have to ban smokes before I would give up. I would fight to have one. Nothing could get in my way and yet here I am today smoke free. You can do it!

Great job Puffer, and I just love, love, love the inspiring stories shared by you and others. As you say, once a seed is sown in can flourish. Once belief is instilled we can foster it and have it take hold. We are proof it can be done. No matter how the journey itself pans out, the result is extreme satisfaction and pride that we finally beat this terrible addiction. I also believe that visiting this site is a reminder of that success and the mantra NOPE.

I hope others will share their stories as well. Thank you.

Hey Puffer girl. I agree with your remark "Keep at it and it will happen as it did for me."

Freedom happened for me too, only, start from day one and never start sucking tobacco ever and again. PROBLEM OF ADDICTION TO NICOTINE IS SOLVED. sure, there are days or weeks of withdrawal!

What are you waiting for? Some cure from god , or divine intervention? HEY WAKE up.

ONLY TOTAL ABSTINENCE GIVES TOTAL end to the addiction.

Stop finding excuses.

You are a role model. 38 year of smoking is quite something which make us all believe more in your determination to quit and stay quit for such a long time of almost 1000 days.

I am married, two kids, smokefree now for 2 years and can vouch How much good it feels like to believe that I have done this for me and all the credit goes to this community to support me.

Wish U all the health in life. Cheers!!
