2 Years On

Wow!
It only seems like yesterday I posted my One Year On story & here I am into my second year already. It has gone so amazingly fast & easy peasy!
No lie though, I still feel like one every so often & the smell of someone lighting up is just wonderful but that urge lasts just a second or two & I go about my day as an ex smoker (I don't like to refer to myself as a non smoker. I believe a non smoker is someone who has never smoked).
I find sometimes that I can go the whole day without even thinking of a cigarette & that's a fantastic feeling.
When I first stopped smoking I knew I was going to succeed & I think this positive attitude got me to where I am today.
Everyday without a cigarette was one day of victory.
It got to a week, then a month & then 10 weeks & I felt so proud of myself. I just knew I couldn't crumble. Knowing I had already gone this far would have been such a let down to myself & such a failure. I didn't want to disappoint myself, let alone my family.
So, here I am & here I'll be this time next year for #3.
For those just starting out, you can do this, you truly can, but you have to really, really want to do it. I believe this is the only way to succeed & go in there with a positive & head strong attitude.
Good luck, you have my back!

How exciting!!! Your family must be very proud of you. Who would have thought we could have ever kicked the habit that has been ingrained in our lives for decades. Yet here you are at the 2 year milestone!
As you pointed out, you need to really want to quit smoking but I also thing that even more than that, you need to believe that you can. This site proves it time and time again. We may get there different ways, but we can get there if we stay positive and believe that we can do it as others have.
I hope you will join us again before celebrating your third year of freedom. Helping others to believe in themselves as you did ensures their success as well as reinforcing your beliefs.

Thank you both.
Safe2017, the only thing I look back on is how that filthy habit controlled my life, wellbeing & time! It's not until you quit do you realise just how much of a time waster it was.
And yes you are right Happiness, everyone gets there in different ways & this site proved it with me as well with the support from other peoples approaches & tips as well.
