Never quit quitting

Posted in Staying quit
schedule 23 Sep 2019

I am over 5 months clean. People said to me "never quit quitting". I took two decades to abstain. I weaned myself down to nothing. I don't sit around tables smoking anymore.

Hi penelopejane, 5 months is great, yes dusting yourself off and starting again is doable, I like your expression clean, I wonder how many of us have thoughts about how clean we are on the inside now, instead of the toxic material floating around in our bodies.

It sounds like a junkie talking when in fact we were once addicts. When someone said you are an addict I didn't believe them, (I didn't take drugs} but it is a potent nasty sly drug just waiting for you to slip up and gain mastery over your body and mind once again.

Congratulations and keep posting, I love to hear that eventually you have developed a strong belief in yourself.

Welcome back, Penelopejane. I know you from the past and of your earlier quit attempts. The fact you have repeatedly returned shows me your determination and desperation to succeed. One just wonders why some can stick to a plan and yet others somehow err. Touch wood, after 4 years + I am not game to err. Just been here too long. Saved too much money and there are too many reasons to stay quit. I hope you stay for the long term.
