How I ..and my wife both up smoking.

Well hello all,
In short, I am 12 months off cigarettes and 6 months of all nicotine. My wife is now 8 months of smokes and all nicotine.
It’s funny about what attracts you to someone . for us pre-kids it was smoking. So, few of "us" left . and sadly for many many years that was our thing. So when ever one of us tried to give up the other was always there to entice the other back. I am sure you all know what I mean.
I guess with time comes experience .. and experience smoker knows that when someone gives it always they are an outright prck to everyone around them... As it was with us.
I gave up first (sort of) by moving to the vape 100% . I did that twelve months ago and was solidly on the vape for 4 months when the wife started her quit. Gee that was rough . every day felt like a week . the fights, the tears the crying ... and that was just me! :) .
When my wife gave up I rewarded her, 100% of the money that would have gone into cigs was now spent on her it made getting over our nonsense fights so much easier. 2 weeks after my wife gave up I gave away the vape and that was 6 months ago. Yes, it sucked ....a lot.
I've had many quits. and so, has my wife, but this time we were just ready I guess.... we knew day 3 would make us cry, week 3 would be horrible and month 3 would feel like heck ... it’s all so exhausting. However guess what? our health is improving out of site. I still crave, the wife doesn't. I am not craving cigarettes per say, its more the relief? It comes and goes, and some days are certainly worse than others. a week ago, I had my first day I didn’t think about nicotine once . I didn’t even notice. I expect it will take me years to get over this, but then again, I have been smoking for 3/5th of my life. If I can do it, anyone can. Every day is a little less painful.

Thanks love... Aye. The wife doesn't even Think about it ... Yeah I dig it is in my head. It's getting better though

Congratulations to both you and your wife. Be happy with your decision and you will be happy without cravings. Reminders of it are not cravings, but just smile and tell yourself "I don't smoke" and move on from the thought. My journey was much like Robn's and I am over that part of my life. Onwards to better and new things with the money saved and health issues in check. Keep reading our stories to help you find that mindset, thanks for sharing and please continue to support others.

A terrific accomplishment. Congrats Courage_now and it does take courage to become a successful non-smoker. Kudos to you and your wife. Cheers.
