Still cold turkey

Day 5 and yes I still would like a smoke but I know that I want to break this habit so am resisting the urge .I have 2 goals
1 is my health will be better and 2 is money saved
bring on day 6 I am ready

Both of your reasons are being fulfilled already. Deep breathing helps with the cravings and with improving our lung capacity. Your doing great KMD and know that the worst has passed. As a member stated "The battle is won in your mind". You can do this, believe it and you will.
Treat yourself to something special with your savings.... a reminder that your efforts will be rewarded from this day forward. Make the commitment to being a non-smoker with joyous anticipation.

That's a great effort. Keep it up. Every day you don't smoke makes it easier. Treat yourself to something special with the money now saved it also helps to stay motivated. Your mind is in the right place and that's where the nicotine and smoking habit is overcome. Keep on keeping on. You've got this.

Stay positive and do what the others said treat yourself to something from the money already saved. I found walking and exercise helped me to get over the cravings, I've been cold turkey now just over nine months. Still remember the early days, they are hard but once through them you will never look back. Have no urge to smoke anymore even with my wife continuing to smoke, I look at the savings, health benefits and the little extra things I can now buy myself. Keep up the good work.

Keep going! Fight those cravings! When they hit for me I just remind myself theyre no longer in control of my body.....Im fighting back!

Hi KMD. I did this cold turkey over 4 years ago and still going. Not one puff ever. Just focus on those $'s saved and breathing without wheezing is a huge bonus too. 5 days down, don't ever go back. Day 1 is the hardest. If you have survived that and you have, just don't ever err. Getting through day one won't be a walk in the park next time. So many who have erred have said how hard it is to start the quit cycle again. Just count those $'s saved and breathe easier.

Thank you all for your support it's a tremendous help
Day 6 and still cold turkey
I have changed my morning routine as I would make coffee then out on veranda for a smoke
Now it's coffee and watching morning news
I'm starting to notice my lungs and wheezing are better as I was noticing a bad wheze a while ago
I'm still cold turkey

So glad to hear that you are still on target KMD. Checking in may keep your quit in chesk..lol No pressure, no judgement, it just helps to keep your motivation. Keep positive and you will do great. We are truly behind you 100% and know you CAN do it. Believe that you will, desire it with all your heart and it will happen.
Anyone can quit with the right mindset.

You do realize that you are past the nicotine addiction . It is now mind over matter. Desire what matters and change the mind to reflect it. You can do this.

Hi KMD,
Stay head-strong. hopefully the thought of the old habit is getting weaker by the day. You'll soon be counting weeks rather than days.. The routine of lighting up is a routine you no longer have. And the money is in your bank to prove it and add motivation.
Look forward, not back.
Yo' got this!
