Pulmonary embolisms

It’s just not worth it!
On Friday morning 7/6, I woke up with severe pains to the right side of my chest and back it’s all a very long story but I’m actually being treated in a clinic with depression, the result of my wife trying to commit suicide 7 weeks ago!
I couldn’t get the vision out of my head so I went to the bottle in an attempt to block it out. After 4 weeks my situation declined immensely so the next move was professional treatment in a clinic. So that’s where I’m at now.
I decided since I’m in here it would be wise to give up the smokes as well, the thought of getting up during the night in the freezing cold for s cigarette was enough to go with it.
Nevertheless I’ve been doing well, I’ve had no cravings or withdrawals until last Friday when the doctor came to visit me in my room with the bade news.
Theodore, after examining you and receiving your blood results , I’m not sure, but I think you may have a pulmonary embolism in your lungs. Guys that was my first craving in 10 days.
I’ll cut to the chase, paramedics were here and waiting to take me straight to Er where the immediately commenced the tests and scans.
They found not one but 10 pulmonary embolisms (blood clots) at the top of my lungs and as the doctor explained to me, they were travelling which meant they were either going to my heart or to my brain. The result is usually always fatal!
After nearly 24 hours in Er I decided there and then that I still have a lot of unfinished business in this life.
I know I will never pick them up again, I’m in the clear now being treated with blood thinners that essentially dissolve the clots!
I hope my story helps even one person, life’s to precious I feel, so I say to you all...
Dignify the miracle of life XX

God Bless you 🙏, HolyCow. I also had damn near life threatening issues because of my smoking. I had to have major surgery back in December. In fact, it was 6 months ago exactly. I have not had a cigarette since. I know you can do it. I will pray for you and your family. And please, don't smoke.

Good decision HolyCow. It’s during difficult times like these cigs tend to sneak back in. Stay strong and keep in mind that if you go back to smoking you’ll still have do deal with old problems plus trying to quit smoking in addition to everything else. I am sorry that you had to deal with such personal issue because I am too still stunned because someone whom I knew well took her own life about 10 days ago. It still hurts too much but we have to keep going nonetheless. Stay strong and smoke free. Do take care of your health. All the best.

Your strength is surely being tested and you are winning . I don't know if I could be that strong in the face of such events, and I don't want to know. You have learned alot about yourself, your will to live, your love of life and have found the fight in you to overcome this depression I hope.
Take a white piece of paper and put a dot in the middle. Describe what you see. Most people say a dot.
Focus on the white part of the page. Life. We tend to focus on the blemish, the small dot. We should see a white page with a dot.
I have no doubt that your scare will keep you free from ever reaching for a cigarette, and I hope your wife will follow suit .
The body is powerful with capabilities of mending itself given the right help. Your mind is just as powerful and once retrained can make quitting smoking much easier.
You take care, get well and let us know if we can be of help.
I am sorry to hear of your loss Safe. May we all count our blessings, and stay on the positive side of life.

All I can say Holycow is you are amazing . Stay safe and strong for yourself and for your wife There is no better time to give thanks for those special people who work hard to keep us as healthy as possible. You are helping by doing your bit too. Stay strong

Thank you softly, kind words are warmly welcomed.
My experience has dramatically increased my discipline.... I can honestly say with out judgement that I will always remain a non smoker for life☺️
