You know that feeling of gasping for air you’re currently experiencing while your body is trying to heal. It wouldn’t be there if I didn’t smoke. I’m only 20 days in. I’ve done this before. Then I’d have the occasional one here or there. This time I finished my pack of champion Ruby’s and then threw all my ashtrays and papers out. Smoker from age 14 to 41. Heavy smoker too. If I can quit then so can you. After reading so many others posts, I know of the struggles that coming with recovering. To quote Winston Churchill “If you're going through h@ll, keep going.” I chose Chapter as my username because life is like a book. This smoking chapter was long and am so happy to start the next chapter of my life now.

Welcome Chapter. It is nice to start another chapter of our lives as you say. Congratulations on a great decision to become smoke-free . You will make this your last quit and finish this chapter so you can go on to more interesting chapters yet again.. I am assuming that you went cold turkey 20 days ago.

Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.

Anyone can quit smoking. Believe and you will.

Hi Chapter. Wish you well on this venture. You know just how hard it is to get through day ONE. You also know how easy it is to fall off the wagon and once again become dependent on lighting up. Of course we all enjoyed it, but not as much as the enjoyment from succeeding and becoming a non smoker. Hope you post again with positive thoughts and reports about your progress.

Hi Bro

Great to hear your 20 days down the road, thats a really excellent start.

Just as reference and out of interest, how much is a 30g or 50 g pouch of Champion Ruby cost these days?

I remember the yellow pouch and the wet juicy texture when first opened, but when it dried out I'd drop an orange peel in and it would freshen it up to add moisture and good to go again. LOL What a champion.............

Fast forward.............

Oh the lingering stench, What about the stains on the fingers, The huge hit on the throat as ya' gasping for air.

It was a champion alright. A champion at f**king with our health, relationships, finances and life in general.

Glad you seen the light

I know I want to quit. My best friend is a smoker and every time I’m around her and she’s smoking, I have zero desire. None. My breathing is a bit terrible now but I know I’ll be fine. It’s all a part of the process. I can now smell someone smoking 3 meters away from me. Like I’m suddenly part

Bloodhound. I have two small kids and both of them are supporting me. Last time I quit I went about 4 months. I was vaping and it just worked. Still not great for you but it was the lesser of two evils. Anything to get off the cigarettes. A 25g pack of champion ruby was costing me 50bucks per packet, and that wouldn’t last a week. That money saved is being put now into a seperate savings account I started. Now instead of literally burning it all away, it will now buy all the new stuff I want for my motorcycle addiction. Loving life. When I got a month down I know I’ll be home free.

Well done Chapter, at 21 days I felt I was over the worst and didn't get any cravings after that. Easier not tempting yourself by never ever even smoking 1 again. It's such a massive accomplishment.

PuffNoMore -totally remember the embarresment of the lingering stench, and the stains on the fingers I always tried to hide -haha- especially at work. Will never look back.

21 days, 3 weeks, Well Done.

Alot of people report that after 3 weeks their cravings are just fleeting thoughts and I tend to agree with them.

The 3 week marker is so important, I think its the cross over point. The point where the Adrenalin and excitement of actually realizing" I've Quit" starts to ware off. So, its time to strengthen the resolve and think of all of positive's of being a non-smoker (there's plenty) Its a time thank yourself for being so determined at the start and be prepared for those occasions where a random thought might feel like an urge to have a puff.

Lets hope you are one of the lucky ones who at 3 weeks kick on without too many problems. You said you'll be "home free" at a month, well, you may already be free!

Keep determined and positive to get to your goal, that monthly mark is within your grasp brother.

I was out today at a pub. Sitting outside in the sun having a beer. This bloke asked me for a light next to me, and I realised this is the first time in my life I haven’t had a lighter in my pocket. My breathing is still a bit laboured, insomnia is bad, and my digestion is a bit off, but I know that’s part of the healing process. Better this week than last week. I got two little ones that need their daddy. A few days ago I had small moments of doubts. Today I know that I will never again smoke. I’m a stubbborn dude. Going to record my album now I am not wheezing into a microphone. I’ll still come on here, and encourage others to stay strong. Thanks to this website and all you amazing people for all the support you give.
