500 days and counting

500 days ago I told myself no more. In the beginning it was hard because for the first 30 days I could physically feel the need for just one cig. Somehow determination won and nowadays a fleeting moment may come and go every so often that’s easily squashed. I am well into my fifties and the other day I played a game of basketball with a teenage son of a friend and was able to hold my own. That wouldn’t ever happen if I were still smoking. Good luck to everyone in their journey and stay strong and vigilant.

Thanks Robn and Leeann. People like you encourage me not to give up. Stay strong and vigilant too. We are all in the same boat sailing away from this nasty habit.

Your stories are great! 500 days is amazing!
Well done..And thanks for sharing and motivatimg me 😉

Red-67, thanks for your encouragements throughout my journey. Being free doesn't even begin to describe the feeling. I am no longer a slave. Among many negatives was flying (especially in the winter) into a transit airport that had no smoking area. Running outside, getting frozen just to have a smoke and then go through the security checks to get back onto my flight was painful. Especially considering that the moment you get back inside passed security and can't leave again the urge to have another smoke hits like crazy. No more morning cough, no more "I only got 2 cigs left" panic attacks, etc, etc, etc.

Reesie, thanks for your encouragement. All the best to you too in your quit.
