Congratulations Dobbin on 891 days. Paving the way for you and appreciate the fact you encourage me to remain 100 days ahead. You and I know this is not a race or a competition. Rather a fortunate experience to hook up within like minded individuals and shared the panic and the pain and the wins along wth our fellow quitters. I can only hope anyone embarking on this desire can relate to fellow quitters at their stage of a very important journey. Giving up the need to smoke is so important.

Hi Lia, Once an addict is always an addict. I accept that and I've learned the hard way that it's NOPE for me - not one puff ever. As a 40+ year ex smoker, I stopped smoking twice before, once for about 2 years and another time for about 1 year and each time I got too cocky and confident in my abilities. Each time, just to prove to myself that I had beat my addiction, I lit up and took just one puff and each time I was hooked again for 10+ years. I know it sounds stupid that to prove to myself that I had beat an addiction I picked up an addiction. However, we all do stupid things in life sometimes. In any case I am on my 3rd and final quit. I know that I am a nicotine addict. By gosh, for me quitting cocaine in the 80s was a breeze in comparison. Good luck to all of us. Stay strong. I appreciate your stories and support.

Hi Safe2017, Thank you for sharing your story in Lia's comment section. Reading that you had made it to 1 and 2 years previously and were tricked into having a single puff gives me knowledge that will enable me to be proactive and constantly be on top of my quit. I will not let the thought that "I have beat this addiction" take over. If I had not read your story, I might have fallen victim when the nico demon decides to use this tactic with me. I am 14 months quit and continue to find it getting easier as each day passes.

Hey Lia. Countdown to your first millennium. A fantastic effort and I am confident I will always stay 100 days behind you. Other comments about just one puff being the fast track back to the addiction is so very true. I believe that being a ciggy addict is perennial but at present we have been given the choice to stay quit. Well done again.

Hi Dobbin. You are doing a great job just keeping that 100 day separation. I know I must keep doing what I am to keep "Margaret Thatcher" at bay. She is relentless in her efforts to sabotage this quest. Ours is a powerful pact to succeed. May all others on this site also enjoy basking in success.
