One year on

So tomorrow the 5th September marks one year without smoking, feel and breathe so much better these days. If I had not quit then maybe the triple bypass I had in April this year may not of happened, the fact that I was trying to improve my overall health was one of the reasons doctors went ahead. They are picky these days and will not help you if you cant help yourself. Make a choice like I did and give it up. I was a 42 year, one pack a day smoker and quit cold turkey, you can do it.

Wonderful news Wazza. Congratulations and best wishes for a long and happy future. I am not sure that doctors can "choose" the patient but they definitely don't want to operate on one that is not strong enough to survive the ordeal. Your body did a lot of healing and repairing itself in that span of 7 months prior to your operation. Blood pressure lowers minutes after our last cigarette, we breathe better within days, our antibodies can fight infection better now that they are not overworked fighting off toxins that we inhale, oxygen levels in every cell rises..... is it any wonder your odds of survival would be much better?
I am so happy that you were lucky enough to have made the decision to quit smoking in time. I hope that others will take heed and join our group here at IcanQuit. Quitting smoking really is possible .

You have done so well Wazza, our bodies seem to let us know when we need to repair and prepare, Live well live long.
