2000 days

I am 2000 days nicotine free $50000 better off. Most of all I am still alive. I gave up using this forum after smoking for 53 years up to 30 a day aged 67. I am still 100 days behind Lia my quit buddy. Was it easy ? No. Was it worth it Yes . Can anyone do it ? If the really really want to. Am I safe now ? No , one ciggy will put me back like snakes and ladders. When was the last time I really wanted a cigarette? About two years ago but it soon passed. Good luck
Thank you so much for posting an update Dobbin!! Thank you for the hard cold facts as well. It's so important the assess the situation realistically. Congratulations and please don't stop posting your updates. I'm only on day 6 today, I relapsed on the day 13 and smoked for a few days before I tried again. It's not easy you are right but it sure is worth it. Take care!

Hey Dobbins! Nice to hear you are still committed to enjoying the good life.
No one is totally safe if tempted to take that first puff back down the rabbit hole. Remember what a dark place it was compared to the fresh air we now enjoy should help in N>O P>E> . Life is good as a non-smoker and I would not tempt fate. I don't live looking over my shoulder fearing that i will slip, fearing something that I hope will never happen. I should hope that I too could cope with an unexpected desire and still desire my freedom more.
For me there is no debate. Life is so good as a non-smoker There are good times I remember when I did smoke, but it was the people, not the cigarette that made it enjoyable.
When we simply remember that smoking does/did nothing for us. Why would we smoke?
Congratulations Dobbins. Wow, $50,000 !

To my quit buddy, so good to see your return to this site. 2000, Awesome number. So glad you are enjoying the milestones. Today is 2100 for me and $52920 saved from the ashtray. Price of brand I used to buy has almost doubled from $196 to $376 a carton. These days it would cost me about $16000 pa. We are so lucky to be going the distance. Not entirely luck. See, I am still staying 100 days ahead of you. We will keep it that way. Nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Hey Lia. Great to see you and that you are steaming forward with the 100 days. Like you say it’s not entirely luck and the effort of those early days were really worth it. Both well into our sixth year and so much more better off in all aspects. See you at the next milestone.

Remarkable record Sir.
I will make it my task to read your stories.
