I'm 30 years old male and I was smoking for nearly 12 years, I have this crazy things going on with my life, I recently quit smoking and I'm not in nicotine at all it's been eight weeks and after a week of quitting smoke I started to have shortness of breath, I felt my chest was tight and I was coughing to clear my chest, I went to see gp and without any diagnosis he told me I have got COPD which has been nightmare, I had panic attack after I saw my gp, went to respiratory clinic respiratory doctors told me my scan are normal, ct scan X ray even blood in oxygen is normal, he told me it might be due to anxiety as my airways are clear and he told me its very unlikely that I will have copd , I have been breathing bit better when I'm busy , but when I'm by myself I would feel and take long breathe I can walk couple of hours but now and then I have to take long breathe, i dont get exhausted while walking , has anyone felt similar or had same experience like I have atm while quitting smoke ?

i was diagnosed borderline COPD after 40 yrs of smoking. After quitting, my new doctor did not detect it. Can you reverse copd? Breathing becomes better after quitting smoking so it may become more manageable. Some have been known to cough and spit up debris from the lungs as a part of the healing process.\ from smoking. You concern is likely causing anxiety , the mind plays tricks. Relax and enjoy the journey to freedom and better health.
