I am posting this because I have been with out cigarettes for 8 years now. I don't want to go back to that life. It hasn't been easy I admit but I wouldn't have started without Champix. I hated the side effects but the alternative was worse. I cut the dose in half and continued beyond the usual time frame. It has worked because I am not wanting to go back down that withdrawing phase again. Good luck to all of you. I have this continual thought that I am one cigarette away from being a smoker again.

Congratulations on your 6 year quit. I am sorry you still worry that you are only one cigarette away from reverting back to a smoker. Once I made up my mind and knew I could live without them , I moved on and put it behind me. While I do advise people to do is to keep in touch with the group periodically to remind them just how great it is to be free and that we could slip, it can be prevented. They also give incentive and support to others which is also valuable.

Positive thinking, embracing the new found freedom and truly seeing how nicotine was a drug that ruled your past will set you free. You really no need to worry about something that you hope will not happen. You've won!

Congratulations vmorrison 6 years is great, thank for returning to post on this site, I too started with Champix, and also cut the dosage in half and continued on later than the instructions gave me, I also understand your your awareness that it is so easy to slip back. Eventually I adopted NOPE (not one puff ever) this seemed to stop my worrying but I do say it every day. I hope I can achieve 6 years thankyou.
