In the first couple of days I had the waking up in the middle of the night bit, and it was really hard to get back to sleep. But this is to be expected if you are going cold turkey. After week 1 this stopped. Around day 10, I experienced nausea. I had a lot of headaches before I quit and they got better after the quit. I can’t comment about after 2 weeks :) Congrats on week 4.

Hey again AC_AC. This is in reply to the “lack of motivation” in your list. I use an app to track my progress and one of the best things about these apps is that you can see the number of cigarettes you have not smoked. This really is my utmost motivation. Seeing that number makes me think of the cigarettes I smoked last 12 years which stress me out and remind me that I cannot afford to go back. Just focus on the health and try to notice whats getting better instead of whats worse. Keep on and congrats on the progress again.

Hey Ac, same issue here... try to get some lavender tea ... it helped ground me when I have panic attacks!

AC, my symptoms started about week 4-6. Symptoms were of different degrees. Lately it has been post nasal drip, which has dried my throat and made it tough to swallow. I went to my doctor and for nose spray. Now my mouth is salivating and am consciously thinking about swallowing my saliva, where as we do that without thinking. This is what an ear nose and throat specialist told me today. Our worst enemy is our mind. It is quite difficult at times but try to do something to get your mind distracted. I have trouble with this too.

I also want to let you know that you are not I. This alone. Others have had similar experiences. You can overcome this. Take care my smoke free being.

You are doing great. Things can be easier once you accept the journey and being a non-smoker. Are you still missing it as a friend? Are you still thinking it relieves stress and gives you courage? Once you understand all the lies and why we told them and believed them for all these years you will be happy to make them a thing of the past. Life is much better as a non-smoker. None of us would willingly go back. Freedom is great!

I've been there with the symptoms mentioned on this thread. It's almost my 3rd month of smoking free and would like to ask if are you guys still experiencing headaches, itchy throat, and my worst one is that I could not sleep starting at 10pm til the next morning. I only have 4-7 hours of sleep for the day and awake for the rest of the day. Is it normal that those symptoms would definitely coming back even though I'm already in my 3rd month? :(

Hi Banjo. Today is day 56. Most of my symptoms have subsided. I am still having a little bit of sore throat because I am swallowing a fair bit yet. ( But less than 3 days ago!!) Towards the end of the day my voice gets a bit hoarse but recently hasn’t been happening for as long as it previously was. Everyday seems to be getting better. It is important to remember that everyone heals at different rates, and biggest factor is our mindset. We have to put it behind us. This is not always easy as mind goes back to aches and pains and struggles. Maintain your course. We are in this together. Take care.
