Hi Guys. Myself and Husband stopped smoking on the 10th of May 2020 - goldturkey.

We starting to think that we always going to be so miserabele and is it worthwile if we going to feel like this for ever...

Would like to hear from as smokers.

How long does it take to feel normal again?

Are you as ex smokers happy?

Do you guys still crave cigarettes?

Does this ever stop this feeling off being miserable?

Hi. Happy to hear from a fellow smoke quitter . Im a cold turkey quitter too. It was hard for me for the first 3 weeks . Just like you I feel miserable. I had difficulty breathing, i had cigs cravings (but i never did one puff at all), food intake was over the top - thus making me gain weight, if i dont eat ill have hypoglycemia. I felt my lungs were swollen , etc.. But dont be discouraged of these symptoms . Always think of it as a blessing , that our body is reacting to the change we would like to achieve. We are in the cleansing stage. We may feel miserable now but in the long run , it will be beneficial for us health wise. The duration of this journey will vary

individually. Keep it up. You're both doing great.

Hi, as unbelievable as it may seem to you now, you will get to the point of not wanting to smoke and having no urges. After about a month cravings will start dissipating. Don’t give in to temptation because one puff and you’ll be right back where you started. This is what I remember from my personal experience. It’s been just over 3 years for me and I have no urges whatsoever but from my previous experience I know that one puff will derail the whole quit. Stay strong and practice NOPE - not one puff ever.

I quit on 4/8/2020. I quit cold turkey. I immediately threw away all smoking paraphernalia. I knew from a previous quit I would try to justify to myself that one little puff occasionally would be ok. THAT IS THE BIGGEST LIE YOU CAN TELL YOURSELF. This time I have the mindset that there would be no failure. I can honestly tell you that last week I never thought of a cigarette and only ever think of them now when I am marking off my weeks of being smoke free. Yes those cravings go away and each week makes you stronger. I think that it is great that you have a partner in this and it should make the temptations easier because you have each other. Best Wishes
