Hello
My name is Martin.. And I'm smoker..
I'm 33 and I have been smoking for about 18 year approximately 15 ciggarets per day..
I have tried several times to quit, the longest one was 1 month.. I failed for several reason (drink alkohol, very bad mood, very good mood, etc..) but I have learned that all fails has one common thing - I was alone in quitting..
So after last slip out I started to search for quitting buddy on the internet and I have found this site.. Honestly, I found out more then I could imagined.. Lots of people, lots of stories, lots of success.. I check it every day, it gives me a power, for me it is another world where I can go when the real one brings me negative thoughts.. Thx for that.. It's very motivating when person who begun to quit is here also after hundread of days and share with us his life experiences as non smoker.. Once I'd like to post such topic..
Currently today is for me 7th day without cigarets.. I quit cold turkey as usual.. Week 1 was better then I had thought, motivation is very strong so far.. Really trying think possitive it helps me the most in these days..

Welcome Martin First let me congratulate you on 7 days quit, Secondly, let me say you are not alone and you are now currently a non smoker.
We can excuse ourselves many times about not being able to last the distance, I too am alone and this was only part of the problem for me, my relationship with Nicotine needed to be figured out because this used to be my friend in my mind.
Your mental desire and other habits are to be exposed for what they are, which for me was a distortion of the truth. You need to work on these as you go through this journey with everyone, it might seem harsh but once you accept your thinking was invalid you will romp home.
If you want to be happy along with your changes, you can work on these by reading The Easy way to stop smoking by Alan Carr which you can download for free, and have a look more than once of the video on u tube called....How to be a Happy Non smoker by Nasia Davos TEDxUniversity of Piraeus, and realize the strong emotions that are in place when we deny this attachment, which we have become to believe about ourselves.
The trick in surviving your commitment is to read and interact with this forum quite a lot, everyone here has different beliefs but the aim is the same "To Give the smokes away and be happy to do so" To Maintain use a Mantra that fits, such as NOPE (not one puff ever) to be used daily without fail.
When you do all of these things you will find you are indeed a happy and successful Non Smoker.

Like you, I found a quitting site and got very interested in the amound of success. A journey with others is not as lonely and disparing as with company. It can even be easier than you think. I think softly said it all. Learn about the illusion, change your relationship with smoking, and accept and embrace these wonderful changes you are about to experience. The mind is a powerful thing. Use it . Think positive!~

Hi Martin, everyone on this forum was in your shoes at one time or another as far as smoking is concerned. Put you mind into this quit. Good luck. Nope - not one puff ever.

G'day Martin, yep we've all been there and thats the beauty of this site, you are not alone. For me 53 years of smoking, 4 attempts to quit and all the stressors that i could imagine, wife, kids, work, grog etc. The list was endless and all of them gave me reasons to smoke again. Think about that. Then I realised while i was allowing this to happen my slavery to nicotine intensified, and i was dying slowly. Accepting that reality in my heart, my mind had only one option, to stop. It was suggested to me on this site to get hold of a book, Alan Carr Stop Smoking the Easy Way. I did, hung around this site on a daily basis, celebrated each of those early days as if they were great milestones, because for me, they were. Today i'm 109 days free! Mate congrats on becoming a ex smoker and your 7 days. Will look forward to hearing more of your journey, Cheers
