Where are the earlier quitters on this site...

It bothers me to see newbies come and go and worse still not return. Wonder if someone may return and share their experiences. I said it ages ago, only about 4% succeed. So after an initial failure, why not reach out again. Who said it as easy and initial failure could not be turned around? Wonder if someone will return and share the new plan...

It has never bothered me Lia, some might just use the site to read the comments, which could re enforce their commitment. Others might use the telephone for counselling. I let myself down once before, and this contribution to the forum has helped me to maintain my own quit. It is not a nice feeling to admit your own failure to a group of people but this message might encourage others to return if they have failed before.

Seeing only a 4% SUCCESS RATE is pretty dismal. I think we have a much higher success rate on this forum than that. Figures will depend on how serious people were. I should hope that those who find us are serious and hopeful that they too can become non-smokers. We educate and give support which makes a huge difference I should think. There are no concrete figures, but we do know that nicotine can be beat. Thinking positive , believing and opening your mind makes it possible.

Hi Lia,
Reading stories on this site during my initial quit helped me a lot with my resolve to stay smoke free. I still like to read postings because it reminds me that this horrible addiction is real and I am just one puff away from it. On the other hand I am not struggling anymore; therefore, I don’t post much. Cheers.
