What the chunk

Hey all, So managed to fend off craving after craving today. I thought I was a tough guy and had this beat, but all day I've wanted a butt. I thought by day 28 it'd be getting easier.
What concerns me is that I never really coughed as a smoker. Haven't coughed as a quitter. Never in +/-30 years of smoking felt very congested. After laughing with my 92 year old Dad (about what a retard Donald Trump is) on the phone for 1/2 hr., I coughed a lung biscuit that I've never seen the likes off. I know this is way too much info, but should I be calling the Doctor, the funeral home, or have a pull of bourbon and go to bed knowing it's part of not smoking any longer. Just kinda of panicky so any thoughts would help!!!!

Here is what I read:
Tar lines the lungs and colors them black. It damages the cilia in the lungs and airway that are responsible for cleaning the lungs. Tar also contains toxins such as carbon monoxide, ammonia and hydrogen cyanide. ... Cilia can take anywhere from 1 to 9 months to heal after you quit smoking.
Hopefully you are going through a healing processes. Good luck.

It may be a sign of healing. You had enough strength to cough it up. My lungs started feeling weak but are fine now after a year. Why stress when you can be reassured by a medical professional? Quitting is the best course of action in any case. You are doing well and have hopefully dodged a bullet.

Hey ray, I dont know what a lung biscuit is. And I never coughed up much phlegm. I rarely had hacking coughing. I had a series of subtle coughs to clear my throat. Maybe its from your throat?
What I do know is that my last lung X-RAY shows damage to mostly my left lung, its coloured black and indicates air sacs are covered in tar and damaged.
After 1 week my shallow coughing stopped! I'm into my 3rd week now and breathing alot better in general.
My problem is unable to inflate my lungs fully and cant exhale fully either. Its not athsma...
Doctors told me its directly related to inhaling smoke and toxins deep into lungs and there is some hope that some damage (not all) can recover if I dont smoke.
I was told this 4 years ago and tried Quitting. Failed until now!
Here's to my health buddy and yours.
No matter what, Dont Smoke

You are right to feel concerned Ray. It could be the after effects of not smoking (clearing out of toxins) t could be many things, we are not doctors but I have read it depends on the colour of the phlegm
I strongly suggest going to your GP to give him/her a clear description.

I wouldn't be too concerned about just one occurence. But if it happened again, I would most definitely be scooping up a sample, and taking it with me to my doctor.
