Temptation Avoided

I have felt the call of the monster tonight. Friday night. Having a couple of beers/wines with my husband.

I still didn't want to have a smoke, but I wanted to be a smoker. Doesn't make sense. But just that total habit of drinking a wine on the patio having a smoke. Pang.

Lucky I threw all the smokes out. Lucky I don't live in walking distance of a shop. Lucky I have my wonderful husband I can speak openly and honestly to. Lucky to have the quitlune to call and speak to a counsellor.

Just sharing, in case any body else is at a similar point.

just one day at a time is how its done

continue avoiding temptation.

Triggers like alcohol can fire up those receptors in the brain in the early days for alot of people unfortunately.

After about 3 weeks it often gets easier to drink without those pangs.

Stay strong

Look on the bright side of things, you resisted the temptation this time whereas you slipped and kept falling before. This time you have decided that you really want this for yourself and have put measures in place to see that you will make it. You are no longer afraid to succeed this time because you know the truth about nicotine. You have support at home and new friends right here who also want to see you reach your desire to being a happy non-smoker.

Time heals all wounds and the bereavement of a broken relationship. Life does go on after smoking and you really will find it much more enjoyable as time goes on. Hang in there, you can do this!

Lando you WON!

.

Don't try and forget your feelings of last night.

Its good to remember how you felt, what you did, what you didn't do and how you worked through it.

Next time this happens you will remember it for what it is... An old habit you USED to do. Remember how you felt when you worked through it and WON! You will REMEMBER the strongest feeling... that feeling of winning not your weakest feeling of romanticising about a filthy cigarette.

DON'T push it aside REMEMBER that the Monster is ALWAYS there๐Ÿ‘ฟ ๐Ÿ‘ฟ๐Ÿ‘ฟ๐Ÿ‘ฟ

Be prepared and expect it to happen again... Of course the winning feelings grow and the temptation feelings fade...

Good work on staying focused and strong...They were just reminders of what you USED to do not what and who you are today.

Im so proud of you. Ill bet you are proud of your strength and commitment too.
