Not getting easier

So.... as of tomorrow night at 10.18pm, it will be 4 weeks since my last cigarette. Whilst I am pleased to say that during that time I have had quite a few dramas outside my control and survived them without reaching for a cigarette. For that, I am proud. I am on Champix but only taking the tablet in the morning as the dreams that I was having was waaay too much and I found it hard to get to sleep. The dreams stopped when I cut back the Champix but it is still so difficult to get to sleep, no matter how tired I am when I go to bed. Yesterday and today I have found that I am thinking about smoking much more often than before, rather than less. I know that I can't have "just one" but it is becoming a bit of a battle. Can anyone else relate?

Hi HMT, Well done for 4 weeks quit, don't think going back to square one is going to help you, it won't! and you will feel even worse.

I too was on Champix, one in the morning, I too suffered from nightmares with the 2 tablets. I too had feelings of sadness in my life at times but it was the outside influences and not because I had given up smoking. You need to create some happy thoughts from now on to help you through life's challenges.

Check out a video which helped me at the stage you are now in, its called "How to grow to be a happy non-smoker by NASIA DAVOS" Its on u tube TedxUniversityofPiraeus. Keep in touch with this forum, there are others to help you through these passages. I am now nearly one year free from those chains you are describing. Keep at it

Hi HMT 4 weeks has shown you that you can and are doing this, look at you go. You need to just decide that you choose to rid yourself of the putrid habit and there is nothing good to miss, but relish in that power of deciding you are taking back control of your mind and will. Maybe take up a new hobby, or read a good book. Make plans of outings with that extra money. If you are feeling a little anxious try some guided relaxing meditation free on YouTube. Stay strong okay because it will get a lot easier if you just give up the feeling of being deprived. Think about those smokes, don't you hate everything about them, I know I do. Relish in the clean sheets smell, freshly washed hair, no more stale smoke smell🤮

it will cross your mind sometimes, but thats just an illusion.

stay with your plan.

its going to get easier as the weeks go by.

You will get it. if you stay on your course of action.

Only you will understand when you find your Freedom.

Keep up the fight, if thats what it is to you atm.

schedule 4 Feb 2020

oh wow, I am writing in the future me - I am in Canada where it is still Feb 3, but this is being posted tomorrow, Feb 4. That is so weird. 34 days quit plus one if you are reading this...hahaa. Remember, just one puff - that's all it takes to break it - so don't do it man. Drink some ice cold water and breathe deeply the smokeless air. I also noticed that quiting makes you look 10 to 20 years younger. Now there's a perk!!!
