I thought I'd share some more with you all. At the time of my quit date I was 6' 8" tall at 300lbs. My blood pressure was 195 over 98. I decided to go on a 2000 cal low sodium diet at the same time that I quit smoking. Talk about self inflicted pain! Counting calories helps distract my cravings for cigs, and my taste buds are coming back so food tastes alright without salt as well. Last week at the doctor, my blood pressure was 120 over 80, and I lost 10 lbs. Not bad!

Well done John. Smoking is such a nasty thing, such a catalyst for other bad things like not exercising, needing loads of salt just so you can taste food, having extra drinks to justify having a few extra ciggies.

Keep it up, it is great to hear such good news stories.

Hi John W. So clever. Meanwhile people like me quit for a very long time and proceeded to stack on the pounds. Me 18kg... After 2 1/2 years I decided if I could give up nicotine, I could also make a decision of what I consumed. "Only" took 9 months to lose those 18kg. Your way is so clever. Double Power to you. Thanks for a very novel suggestion. Inevitably quitters put on weight. Wonder how many followers you will have? Lots I hope. Positive reinforcement as weight drops and fitness ncreases and one abstains from smoking. There is a lot to be said for being able to breathe...

Go John!. I too set a goal to lose 10kgs and quit smoking and cut down on wine (too many calories).

I joined Weight Watchers (digital online). They give you access to the most amazing recipes. You get an app where you can scan barcodes of any foods and products.

Shopping takes longer but its surprising. Some foods you thought were good are not so good. You also have a forum to join if you want and a tracking record of your daily foods and weight loss.

I'm in Australia. Its about $30 a month. So worth it.

You are really doing so well🐟
