I am absolutely stoked about being now 4 weeks as a non smoker!

I can't believe now how scared I was. This is the first time I have actually confessed to that. My days are so much easier now. The anxiety about when I am going to fit my smoke breaks in, getting to the shops to make sure my stocks are ok, who is around, can they smell me......all gone.

And I saved enough money to go out and buy (ironically) a smoker. Had a beautiful smoked brisket and vegetables with jalapeno poppers at the weekend. My taste buds have been reawakened since my quit. Have always been a bit of a "foodie" but it is even more of a passion now that food tastes so much better.

I have been around smokers since I quit. Without me asking any one of them, Nearly all have offered me a smoke, so I can get through without having to go buy a whole pack. Not the help that I want or need. It really is their fear of losing another member of the suicide club.

I am a non smoker. I will have Not One Puff Ever.

Lando,

Congratulations!! That is fantastic and I love that you bought a smoker! I come from a family of foodies, and I know several times I have eaten or smelled something these last few weeks, and I was taken off guard because I could really smell it or taste it! Itโ€™s like a rebirth for the senses. I just found it really exciting and refreshing. So keep going with your great quit and really enjoy your smoker. You deserve it๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Way to go Lando you are doing amazing. High five girl, you've got this. It's funny how smoker friends react when you tell them you've quit. Some can be supportive and others scoff, like rightio a whole lot to scoff at now isn't it. I think they react that way because they are secretly envious but too scared to have a crack themselves. There is no need for envy, but it does take commitment and a clear direction to give up. I love that you are treating yourself with that money saved. You are just ahead of me in your quit but I am hot on your tail and I won't be turning back again. The feeling of the freedom is too good now. I too kept hanging onto those smokes as I was scared of the struggle of the quit smoking however I don't feel any struggle this time as my slow brain finally got it that there simply is nothing to miss. Happy cooking with your new smoker, I bet there are lots of new recipes you'll be whipping up to impress hubby and friends. You go girl๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ’ž

Hi Lando. Eventually, your smoking mates will discover the embarrassment of being smokers and what that entails for being able to light up. Often in very hot or frigid outdoor conditions. Often in alleyways. Often alone. And the rest of it... Yes, I think their cigarette offerings are a way of trying to keep you in the group. I can tell you now, this group on icanquit are heaps better than the nicotine circle.

I know where your coming from Lando. One of the reasons I quit was my best friend had a bad heart attack last spring. He survived but will have to be on medication the rest of his life and is living with only 60% of his heart functioning. I visited him over the holidays and he's still smoking. I'm so afraid for him but he too kept offering me cigs. And He kind of got mad when I wouldn't go there, and tried to talk him out of smoking for his kids sake. I know I'll never go back, not one puff ever! You will do it too! We can only try to help our friends see the truth. They will quit when they're ready.
