I had tried all kinds of methods to stop smoking, patches, gum, cold turkey, nicotine inhaler etc etc. In the end the only thing that worked was a vape. I haven't even touched a cigarette in two years now. Admittedly I still use my vapouriser sometimes but I feel amazing. I can run 4 KMs in 20 minutes now. My wife actually picked up my vapouriser and she has quit aswell now. As did my brother. I can't believe how much easier it was using a vapouriser than the other nicotine replacement products. Now all my friends don't smoke, and only a few that did smoke still vape. I can't believe how lucky I am, and feel so much better, my latest physical for my job I had the doctor said I had excellent lung capacity. Probably one of the biggest things for me was improving my fitness and type 1 diabetes. I used to get Multiple lung infections during flu season, and since I quit smoking I haven't had a single one. I highly recommend using one to quit, wether you continue to use the vapouriser or not, it's way better than smoking.

Hi Rikki. As I just gave my view on vaping minutes ago on another post i won't repeat myself. lol.... I can hear the laughter!

Just wouldn't want you to feel shunned by me if i didn't say hi and to thank you for your views. Perhaps if someone has tried all avenues available and still can't get the mindset to accomplish the journey they might consider it as a last resort. I am glad your family members and friends have also quit smoking...definitely a good step in the right direction. My hubby and daughter both quit after reading Allan Carr with no problem and no aids.

You can read the book free by clicking on my name and finding the story i recently posted with the link. All the best to you and yours.

Happiness, I just read your other comments. And I'm a little disappointed. You don't seem to value the fact that the reason we want to people quit smoking in the first place is to save lives. Vapourisers do that. And although I don't think you will find anyone that says using a vapouriser is better than quitting nicotine all together. I don't understand the animosity or the self righteous attitude that comes from cold turkey quitters. It makes me sad when I know so many people who would never have quit smoking if it wasn't for vapourisers. They are 60% more effective than patches or gum. And they deliver the same health benefits as anyone else who quits smoking. I think the best part about using the vapouriser is that it is enjoyable enough to ensure no relapses. And I consider any quit a win, no matter how that is accomplished as long as the individual experiences the improvement in health that comes with quitting smoking. Hope you can see that one day.

OK

Thank you for explaining Rikki. Do We need to expect more stories from people using vapourises . Is that right? So you clicked on this link on Facebook and you shared it with people in a Quit group that use Vapes,? that can explain the bombardment of Vape advocates all over a few hours.

Thank you for explaining that to us.

I'm not sure what stance the cancer council in Australia takes on Vaping? I think they are not advocating for it at this time and I dont think they ever will!

Lets just you stick to your Vaping group of people and we'll stick to Our QUIT community.

Sorry Follow, I won't be silenced. I'm going to share my quit story and help others wherever I can because it really works. Especially because there is so much false information out there about Vaping that might be putting people off the one thing that might work to get them off of cigarettes. I don't need to be silenced by anyone. You are welcome to join any vape to quit group and share your own story, no one will stop you, infact they will always encourage people to try other methods first. The greatest irony is so many people succeed with quitting using a vapouriser that have already tried every other method. That's worth taking notice of, it is saving thousands more people now thank goodness, that otherwise would have continued to smoke, or not managed to quit for many many more years.

Rikki. If you read my welcome to you, and it was a sincere one. I joked about not repeating myself....maybe you get the joke now. People here know me as you do not. If you would kindly reread my welcome without animosity, you will see that i concur with the possibility of using vape as a last resort. I quit cold turkey, but two of us hardly merits a them self richeous ones. We support anyones decision to quit smoking with an aid as long as they follow directions and don't abuse it. When someone is doing themselves harm i will not just shrug it off and say "great job".

Again i concur that some people just don't grasp the mindset no matter how hard they try. If after several attempts they are just beating themselves up over it then i guess they will have to settle for less than what they wanted.

If many of us here converged on your group site, i ask you how you would feel.

We have nothing to sell or promote.

Again, those who found vaping to be an answer are better off than smoking. Having taken that step perhaps they too could find the belief in themselves to actually get off of nicotine and be free. I hope perhaps that will happen for Myf one day should she decide to go that way as a temporary measure.

I read your other comments, and they are pretty vile tbh. Your attitude sucks, and I will add, this isn't your site. How would I feel if you converged on one of the vape pages? Well it happens on a daily basis, due to the amount of misinformation about vaping. Which you have obviously fell victim to. Nicotine isn't very harmful. It's no more harmful than caffeine. So your outright detest of it is nonsensical. Do you go around convincing people they shouldn't drink coffee if it's what stopped them drinking alcohol? Associate professor Dr Colin Mendelsohn is the one who wrote my nicotine prescription two years ago. He knows what he is talking about. You need to reassess your viewpoint. Because currently, you are seeing a distorted view. Vaping doesn't just have the ability to get people who want to quit off cigarettes, it has the ability to get people who don't want to quit off of cigarettes. That's why it's so revolutionary.

schedule 11 Dec 2019

Well who can argue with that last statement. Vaping has the ability to get people who don't want to quit off of cigarettes.

My point is that people who come here WANT to quit. Let them decide whether they want to still be held hostage by nicotine or be free of its cravings and timetable.

Go and help the ones really in need then, who don't know where to turn for help and strength. I will concur that vaping is probably safer than smoking. I will concur that smoking cigarettes kills. I will even concur that you actually think you are saving lives, and maybe you are. But so am I, and we have two different methods and two different goals to reach. In all of the earlier posts you all bragged about quitting smoking, but not one mention of quitting nicotine. Not one comment of support made to those who need encouragement to stay on track. Those who come here, come seeking help to break an addiction as well as the habit.

As i have come to understand that vaping is not even legal in Australia. Why come to an Australian site where most members reside. Are you suggesting that they break the law? I am from Canada, and have tried vaping and did not get satisfaction from it. I viewed it as a substitution, that cigarettes were going to kill me, and vaping ....well who knows. Take that chance i guess. I never thought I could quit smoking until (its too long, read my story) I joined a quit group and believed there was hope.

The amazing thing is how easy i found it was to quit. I came here in hopes of helping others.

So maybe we are both trying to spread good. I guess we just have different views and different methods. I could accept your method if at the same time you tout vaping as a safer (in all likelihood) alternative to smoking and as a GREAT Nrt while seeking counselling to quit nicotine addiction.

Is there any possibility of working for the same goal of ending nicotine addiction?

Like I said, you are a misinformed on so many levels it's crazy. I didn't mention quitting nicotine, because it's irrelevant to this website that is a quit smoking website, not a quit nicotine website. Nicotine doesn't cause the harm, the tar and toxic chemicals do. Vaping is legal in Australia, however it is not as available as it should be to quit smoking. I was issued my nicotine prescription from associate professor Dr Colin Mendelsohn. And he is an expert on harm reduction. The difference between my method and yours is, my method saves more people from death and disease because it gets more people off of cancer causing cigarettes. Saying vaping is "probably" safer is a huge understatement. The royal college of physicians in the UK is the medical body that first discovered smoking causes cancer, they are the same body that says vaping is at a minimum 95% safer than smoking based on current research and likely much safer. And that they highly recommend any smoker takes up vaping and stops smoking. This website specifically endorses vaping as a possibility for quitting smoking, so trying to shun us because we found the easiest and most effective way to quit smoking and give the most benefit to the most people that smoke is both hypocritical and morally wrong. There is a group of Australian smokers who will never quit. One of my local doctors even used a vapouriser to quit smoking. Now if a doctor who has every resource at his disposal couldn't quit until he discovered E cigarettes what does that tell you about our current system. My concern is with preventing relapse to smoking, and for some people that means they maintain use of nicotine indefinitely. And that's o.k. because nicotine doesn't kill people tobacco smoke does. I doubt you know even half as much as I do about nicotine and it's toxicology and pharmacology. For instance, people consume nicotine regularly sometimes even daily in their food as nicotine is present in many vegetables. It even has selected benefits in recent studies Nicotine is chemically similar to acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter in the brain that declines in Alzheimer's disease. Drugs such as Aricept help people with Alzheimer's by boosting brain levels of acetylcholine. It's not the big bad devil you make it out to be when seperate from tobacco smoke. Sure it's addictive, but so is caffeine and sugar. Addiction is defined as a chronic, relapsing disorder characterized by compulsive drug seeking, continued use despite harmful consequences, and long-lasting changes in the brain. It is considered both a complex brain disorder and a mental illness. Now I believe if you remove the harmful consequences and compulsive drug seeking that is no longer an addiction. As most Vapers reduce their nicotine consumption down to zero or less than 3mg I consider that no longer addiction. Especially when they can go for days without the compulsive repetitive use. Keep in mind Australias smoking rates despite a decade of tobacco vilainisation and debilitating taxes have remained more or less unchanged exactly the same as American quit smoking rates that have very few restrictions on advertising etc. Now look at the UK, who endorse vaping as a quit aid. Their quit smoking rates are double that of Australias. They also have the second lowest cancer rates in the world only second to Sweden who have encouraged the use of snuss a type of nicotine tobacco pouch that sits in the mouth. I think you have allot to learn about vaping and other tobacco harm reduction products and strategies. These are real life solutions, not hypothetical idealistic ones. This are real world solutions to eradicating smoking FOR GOOD!
