One Year Today

Who would have ever thought that I would quit smoking after 43 plus years. Not I in my wildest dreams. Which reminds me that for a second time, i dreamed of smoking, was appalled and thankful it was a dream....or rather a nightmare.
I got an e-mail first thing this morning congratulating me on my one year quit. Despite some reminders of the old days, I can honestly say that I never dwell on it or have any intentions of picking up that unhealthy, stinky, expensive time wasting habit again. I can only hope that i have inspired others and helped to ease some hardships in their journeys. May you all stay free and happy, as I am in our new roles.
You can teach an old dog new tricks and you can get better with age like a fine wine.
Cheers to IcanQuit and thank you all for your stories and inspiration.
Thank the powers for better health , wealth and mind!

Thank you Nuts. It is so nice to see and others also succeed in flying colours. Like Harry Hacksaw said, helping others while helping ourselves, producing dopamine.....keeping ourselves busy and satisfied.
My reward is every day that I get to stay home retired. My time is my own and I am loving it. My pact with myself is that if I slip I will go back to work!
I had more trouble reconciling myself to retiring than I did choosing to not smoke. I have accepted it now, and thankful that I did because my time is now taken driving my Dad to a specialist and hour away twice a week. Who knows what the future holds?
I give thanks every day that I have with no more episodes of shortness of breath and the fear of ill health. My reward is seeing others become happy non-smokers too. Jamie my hubby is two weeks behind me and my daughter also a few weeks. I will remain here in hopes of helping others. You do a wonderful job of encouraging too Nuts. Makes you feel good doesn't it?
Nothing is impossible. Dream it. Want it. Do it!

Congrats Happiness, a great achievement. Keep it up and don’t look back. Cheers.
