Dream of Smoking...Toking and Non-Smoking?

For the first time i had a dream that i smoked a cigarette. I do not recall it clearly, but i do remember that i lit a second one later and put it out after a couple of drags feeling terrible about the slip. I remembered it while brushing my teeth this morning, but knew that it was a dream, thankfully .
At 250 Smoke free days, I wondered what may have triggered it.
Last night hubby and i could smell the neighbours smoking pot under our window and I asked him whether or not we would be interested in smoking some now that it was legal. In Canada we can even grow it in our yards, as my friends do. It may be cheaper than alcohol, and mellow me more to have better sleep. The question is if that action of smoking would have an affect on my journey so far. I have been so fortunate in not having cravings since early days. Even hanging out with smokers does not bother me. However, it may not be just the action, but the gratification derived from it that would be "rewarding".
I don't know much about marijuana but I imagine todays strains are higher in THC than the mild buzz from the 70's. One toke would do me.
I would love to hear from anyone with some knowledge or experience with toking and non-smoking. Thanks!

Hi Happiness I read your post and you describe a similar experience I had with dreams of smoking. I woke up so disappointed that I'd smoked then realized it was only a dream. Since that happened I have seriously considered vaping I wonder if it is the smoking demon tapping on my shoulder. I'm not over the psychological aspects yet I suppose. Maybe you considering pot is the same thing...just hearing alarm bells ringing in the background. I wonder if it was legal here I would consider it as opposed to vaping either way I'm holding off as I'm sticking to NOPE for now.

Yes, warning bells are ringing which is why i am presenting the question. Thanks for your response FreshAirOK.
Inhaling anything into your lungs is not a great thing, yet if one toke in the evenings gave me what drinking does, would it make it a better choice? If CBD was smoked for medicinal reasons, the only difference being that there is not THC, yet if it cured or remedied anxiety, pain or other maladies, would smoking CDB be any different. While quitting smoking may be one thing, once quit, quite another.....??? I would not want to vape at this point, even with a zero nicotine juice for the ingredients are not yet deemed safe in a long study. Popcorn lung is still a consideration in doing that. That would be just another habitual action daily on a regular basis, and i think you would miss the dopamine jolt you would still miss in doing that repetetive action.
Maybe BethP who used CBD has an opinion here.....

FresfAirOk, Kudos to you for sticking to NOPE. Stick it out and you will be in the clear. Good luck.
Happiness, I had a few smoking dreams, felt guilty about falling of the wagon in-the dream, felt relief when I woke up. I think that no matter how long we have been non smokers, subconsciously thought of smoking will come up because we are all former addicts. Better in your dream than in reality.
As for smoking pot, a habit I enjoyed quite a lot between 70s and mid 90s, I don’t what would happen if I started smoking again on regular basis. What I do know is that unknowingly I grabbed a brownie when I was at a friend’s house which had a lot of THC in it. After I ate it I got paranoid and didn’t enjoy the experience much.

You are so right Safe. Just 3 tokes a couple of years ago had me in a paranoia state, which is why I would want to stick to homegrown, but like i said, i know so little about it. I would be willing to experiment to see what the effects would be , if it is the mellow, easy going mood i seek to unwind and sleep, but I am afraid that it might lead back to smoking which of course is the question ,the unknown... Any ex smokers toke and not smoke?

Back in the day we used to use rolling tobacco in the spliff, so probably a bit to close to the slippery slope for me. Also just the action of drawing smoke into my lungs could make me crave.

You are right Nuts, but I don't want to get high, per se. One toke is not a lot of smoke but it is inhaling, so i am considering making brownies. Easier to control the buzz and less calories than drinking wine to chill and relax.
If i do follow through on ingesting pot, i will let you know how it goes ;)
NOPE even if it is pot!

Hi Happiness, just be careful. If you are in a legal area I would highly recommend vaping. Ingesting THC gets filtered through the liver and actually gives a very different experience (you get more 11-hydroxy THC and not as much Delta-9-THC) , often with more paranoia and a much longer half life and its much easier to overdose into somewhere uncomfortable. Vaping oil or even flower does not have the same health disadvantages as tobacco, especially in ciggie form. 1:1 THC/CBD cartridges are probably the best bet if you want to relax but also stay reasonably alert.
Stay safe and stay off the smokes!!

Thanks for the info nosmokekoala. I only posed the question as whether or not toking would be a set back, and since it is inhaling i am inclined to agree that it might, even if is is one toke, one or two nights a week, much as a sleep aid, and to replace my glass of wine. In Canada, it is legal , and i could grow my own. Why take the chance on smoking again when the alternative could be eating a brownie?
I am unlikely to toke now, after giving it some thought, even if the opportunity arose, which is more likely that it would some day being legalized. Perhaps taking home a "brownie" to nibble at my leisure and gaging the effect could be a possibility. More research is a definite preclude to acting on this "thought". Medical marijuana is here, and perhaps in our futures.
I am sorry Broncor is put off by the topic, and i hope she and others will remain loyal followers and contributors to this sight. Thanks to all who took the time to reply. My apologizes to any it may have offended. xo
