Can anyone advise me I wake up several times a night but come 4 or 5 am I am at my worse with my body screaming for a smoke. I have been just having a couple of drags but I WANT TO QUIT. Does anyone have any ideas what I can do as I can not go back to sleep pulling my hair out?

Kitty has some good ideas, we are all different but all want to give up smoking for good. Nicorrette Mist helped me, it works quickly and takes the edge of the cravings but its not a miracle cure. The key thing in my opinion is truly wanting to quit and committing yourself. Expect some hard days, but these get easier with time and the rewards are worth the short term pain. Best of luck and remember you are not alone and others like you and I have beaten the nicotine addiction.
I am on Champix, I do not have trouble sleeping just the 4 - 5 am very bad cravings.

Wow Aussie... you are doing much better than your initial post suggested. So today you are about 5 days into your quit smoking date with Champix but still sneaking drags to the tune of one cigarette a day. The worse time being 4.am.
The others have given lots of great ideas that you might try. What about melatonine to help get you through the whole night? You seem to be doing ok while you are awake and refreshed. Keep up the great work. You can do this.
Please also remember, that even on Champix, any nicotine keeps the monster alive. 72 hours abstaining will kill it. You have come along way, far too far to change strategies. Awesome job, keep the positivity, you can do it this time Aussie Dreamer.

Hi Aussie Dreamer.
If your on champix do eat or a full glass of water when you take your tablet. This should eliminate any nausea and get the drug to work on diminishing the pleasure from smoking. In your 2nd week when your amount of tablets increase, you will find a "metallic taste in your mouth. Your DRAG on the cigarette will taste foul,,,,,,,,So stay on track, you'll beat it eventually:)
