2nd time round

I first quit smoking way back in 2009, after smoking for 19 years. I lasted for 5 years. Yep, 5 long years. All it took was a couple of smokes one day, and I was hooked again. That was 4 years ago.
I was determined not to smoke for as long as I had quit for, so I’m currently on day 27 of my quit journey.
I know I am ready. I don’t like smoking anymore. I don’t like the way it made my hair and clothes smell. I don’t like the way i would cough each morning. I don’t like how much it would cost. I don’t like how much time it wastes. I just don’t like it anymore.
That’s not saying that I don’t feel like one, because sometimes I do. But I know I can go further this time. I will not make the mistake of thinking that having a couple will be ok. I will quit this time.

Hi Ava.. what method would you be using in your quit journey?
All the very best.

Hi Ava. Thanks for reminding us how easy it is too succumb to temptation. We often mention the fact that just one will lead to 2 and 3 and before we know it we could be hooked again. You have just proved this. Glad you will be quitting. Not easy but doable. Wish you well.

Hi Jenno, I’m going cold turkey again this time. So far so good. I didn’t set a quit date, just woke up one morning and said I don’t want to smoke anymore. I just kept routine for the first few weeks...going outside 20 times a day like I would do when I had a smoke, but just not smoking. I only wander out occasionally now for my pretend smoke.

Good luck Ava. Twice before just one puff had me hooked and each time for about a 10 year span. No third time though. Stay strong and vigilant. Good luck. I my case chewing gum helps a lot to get over infrequent urges.
