Exatomondo! It does get easier the wider and bigger the gap gets from your last puff.

Cravings do fade away, and eating does not have to be a substitute. It is what you eat that can cause weight gain. Again a choice.

Eat and throw in some exercise. The best thing is to just think positive. You will not craving something that you do not want!
