Hi all.

So I'm going for surgery a week today and I need to no if you think it's Okie to still be using patches a week before surgery I need them more than ever now to keep me strong and not give in to the dirty habit again.

Any advice?

Your doctor will want to know all the medication and even herbal treatments you may be using. Call and ask your doctor what you can continue taking and what not to. Blood thinners are a definite stop three days or so prior. I doubt that nicotine is a problem, they want you to quit for stronger vitals, breathing etc.

You are doing great and I hope you will continue when you return home and on the mend. It is the single most beneficial thing you are likely to do for yourself. Be healthier, be free.

Play it safe and ask for medical advise here. Let us know how you are doing. All the best!

Hi Gemma23 Good to hear you are still going strong. As suggested your Doctor will want to know about all medications including patches, Please take there advice. I would think it should be OK I know they give smokers patches while they are in hospital if they ask.

While you are waiting and after the operation is a good time to practice relaxation, using deep breathing twice a day. Keep in touch and good luck you will be fine.

yeah positivity helps. Keeping calm also.

But ultimately not smoking is the ONLY cure to staying an ex-smoker.

just get over your op and let us know how i't went.
