Has anyone tried Turmeric & Ginger to help detox from nicotine and other nasty chemicals after quitting? Thoughts on this? Thanks in advance! : )

schedule 18 Dec 2019

Actually Rosie, It may have had something to do with me quitting smoking.

If you read my story, I didn't believe that i could quit smoking. I wanted to help heal my lungs after being diagnosed borderline copd three years earlier.

I decided to eat wiser and was researching and came across something which led me to try a lung cleanse.(a simple safe drink) . I later discovered that ginger was said to curb cravings. Anyways, I did not know this, and took this cleanse morning and night and on the eighth day I woke and didn't feel like a cigarette right away. I decided to see how long i could put it off , and did this over and over and down to 3 out of a regular 30. Prior to this I had cut down some naturally but putting them where i had to get up to get them instead of smoking mindlessly. A couple days of doing this i joined a quit forum, set a quit date and the next morning i woke up and felt dizzy after 2 puffs. I quit the next day.

I continued the detox drink for another 8 days or so. I continued to take both ginger in turmeric in powdered chicken broth with pepper to activate the curcumin in turmeric. (it was far more pleasant and enjoyable than the other recipe). My quit was exceptionally easy. I can't swear by it, but both are great antioxidants and anti-inflammatories. Ginger also reduces nausea.

No harm in trying it Rosie. The ingredients are good for you. the. Two other ingredients in it are honey and onion. 4 Super Foods.

Of course i don't know whether they would work on their own, and you know the mindset now. But i do know they will not hurt. I did not take them to help quit smoking, only to detox ( my lungs especially)

I would be interested too if anyone else has had any experience with these?

That is amazing! I read an article about taking the two together and it also mentioned onion. I'm drinking green tea that has some turmeric in it but I want to try this detox with the ginger.

So happy to hear it worked for you! Thank you for sharing!

Like i said, i tried it for health reasons and may have gotten a surprise benefit. Regardless, it is chock full of good antioxidants, anti=inflammatories and onion and honey also have their benefits as well. How can you go wrong? It certainly won't hurt you in moderation.

I made the concoction, without the honey. Took about an ounce like medicine and chased it with a tablespoon of honey. About the same time i was doing the same with a clove of garlic before bed. I think i had to crush the garlic and wait five minutes for it to react in some way to get the benefit. I can't remember what it was for at the moment.

While there is merit to herbal medicines, do be careful with prolonged use and adverse reactions if you are on medications. Which reminds me that i just yesterday read that when you quit nicotine, it can affect some medications so your doctor should be informed in case of meds you are taking could be affected.

I hope you find the ginger and turmeric work for you.

Interesting... my husband drink green tea with a slucebof stinky fresh g linger. Turmeric is is supposed to be fantastic for you. There a lot of of products on the market now for Tumeric. Might get some. Can't hurt

Green tea with a slice of fresh ginger. I hate predictive text 😛

schedule 19 Dec 2019

It is most annoying at times. Outright gibberish at times. I remember ending notes to hubby with xxoo and it would write "zoom zoom". We took to replacing xoxo with that after getting rid of the application.

I've caught mistakes before and had to think of another word to replace one because it had a mind of it's own!

I get annoyed with modern technology and communicating through a keyboard and If I add a few too many beers into the mix, well, It gets messy. LOL.

But seriously,,,,,,,, Last year in my Quit I had myself prepared for those crucial 3 days and I sucked on GINGER CRYSTALS,,,,,um ,,They are almost lollies or candy,,,,,,, but they are very natural and predominately real ginger. One cube would last in my mouth for up to 4 hours . I highly recommend GINGER

Pisces I literally laughed out loud when I read through this feed! Anyway, I did try some turmeric and added it to my ginger tea and I like it so far. I did some more research and it is said that the turmeric can really help with asthma and lung function. I have had asthma since I was a child and of course the smoking only made it worse. I've been a cup of green tea after meals and I've notice I snack less which is nice. I gained 4lbs the first 20 days of quitting so I was starting to panic. : /

Puff, I have tried the ginger candies you speak of, they are great for nausea, didn't think to use them now for my quit but you might be onto something!

schedule 20 Dec 2019

Well I am glad you are finding the turmeric and especially the ginger to work for you. No one ever gave me feed back on it, so I don't mention it much. Perhaps other who decide to give it a go will leave a comment on their findings.

Yes, the couple of days where we had visitors , is something neither Pisces or I wish to remember let alone relive. I laughed too at their absurdity. Look out for Mama Bear! Some who come here really surprise you in a most delightful way.l

Don't worry about that little bit of weight gained Rosie. You will lose it , but first things first. Did you know that quitting smoking is the equivalent health wise to losing 80 pounds. Just eat whole foods and for a treat i used to mash a banana and mix it with cocoa powder. Freeze in blobs and its a little treat for a smoke-free day. No quilt, as cocoa releases dopamine. Ever hear of anyone who wasn't happy eating chocolate? Lavender, sex, love, doing good deeds and learning all make us feel good and raise dopamine.

Rewards for our efforts make us happy. Compliments make us happy. Making someone else happy makes us happy.

Spread some sunshine today!

Are you or anyone finding any difference experimenting with Ginger? I would be interested in hearing about it.

Have a great smoke free day everyone. None today makes our tomorrows even better!

Hi Happiness, sorry I’ve been MIA, I’ve been traveling since Christmas so it’s been hectic!! I’ve continued using the green tea while traveling to help with cravings although they seem to be under control. I’ll continue the ginger and turmeric once I return home. Hope you have a wonderful New Year!!
