One of my names is Nana. I am an addict of nicotine.

Last week I went to the Dr, I told him I wanted to stop smoking, ...that willpower, lozenges, patches, positive thinking, hypnosis did not work... cos I had tried them all in the last 10 years... the only thing that did work was Champix, until a " friend" said, while we were celebrating their birthday and having a glass or 3 of wine, " that 1 or 2 smokes wont do anything bad!"

Oh yes they did.

I am sure you know how it goes.

So, the Dr gave me a script for Champix.

I did great for 5 days, started to think it was going to be easy,

I self sabotaged. I put the tablets away. Out of sight, out of mind. I didnt even remember about them for 4 days!

I got medical advice and restarted.

I am on day 5 of the restart, and caught myself looking at them, thinking.. I will take it later... while getting ready to be out of home all day...

I took the tablet! Its a small win against the addiction!

Yes. Most of us here can remember those days. Want a smoke?

"No thanks":

well heading out for a quickie. Do you want to come?

"No, Ill stay here"

Are you sure? come out with me.

"ah ..ok"

Are you sure you dont want one?

"no ,,I'm fine thanks"

"oh, can I have one Puff???".............................................................................................................We remember.

Change the dialogue and be totally committed to the Quit.

Forever.

I did.

I've been back and forth with Champix since 2015 but this time I'm doing it. I have now been on Champix for a few months while cutting down, I've finally gone 8 days durry free, it's not an easy road and the side effects from the Champix plus quitting smoking is insane but I keep going. I am finding that will power has a lot to do with it too, small steps in the right direction for us both

I think that Champix can get you off to a great start but it is also the change of mindset required to keep the quit after the pills are gone. Please realize that you are not giving up anything, as smoking never did anything but administer our "fix" and keep the cravings away. You CAN break the cycle and the hold that nicotine has on you with the Champix. You CAN change how you FEEL about smoking and desire CHANGE. Read our stories or better yet Allan Carr. (How to Quit Smoking Permanently)(The Easy Way to Quit Smoking) Make the quit easy and invest your savings in yourself. You CAN!
