It started by wondering what it's like, ended up quitting the same way.

I am 37 years old in 2024, a blessing.

My first puff of a ciggie was at 8 yo.

Seeing others wondering what its like.

Ended up quitting the same way, amazing.

I smoked and vaped tobacco products for over 27 years.

I smoked and vaped cannabis products for over 20 years.

I tried to cut down, not addressing my lifestyle.

I tried cessation, including inhaler/patches/gum.

I did full courses of Champix unsuccessfully.

At the end of the day, I was struggling with my emotions.

Seeking health benefits, although my life was in flux.

Triggers seemed meaningless as I was consistently unwell.

I kept with trend, thinking that vaping was helping me.

Hospitalisation for polysubstance+alcohol misuse.

I ended up smoking+vaping, with respiratory distress.

Change is hard, but I had to start somewhere, to get well.

As of today 522 days smoke/vape free, my health is improving.

Right now I still live with cholesterol/pressure/diabetes/etc.

I need not win much else, but to win at this, so I stay Quit.

Good for you for choosing change and making positives strides in your health and well being. Although I quit a year before my stroke, the high blood pressure pills and cholesterol pills were prescribed as is usual for such a thing. Four years later I am now off of both (but monitoring it). Exercise and diet also are positive changes. Change may be hard, but some like these and quitting smoking are worth while. Life is good.....lets not take it for granted.

Remember that no one ever wishes that they smoked, only wish that they could quit. Wishing is a start, doing gets it done.
