Today i am completing 6 week of smoke free. I have only realized one thing. every one has his own share of stories and experience. When i look back, I think my inspiration to quit didn't come from the long term benefit. Rather it came from immediate benefits. last time when i attempted my focus remained on how i will be in a better health after one year or 10 years form now. And the whole process looked impossible. that is one of the reason i succumbed in my last effort. This time round i am focusing on the immediate benefits. I am enjoying everyday of freedom. i feel relaxed , better sleep, better appetite, better taste, better smell. and overall i can exercise for much longer without taking a break.

I am just taking each day as it comes. hopefully there would be a day when i completely forget what it was like to smoke. All i can say its a long way to go before i wipe that part of memory. but for the time being i am enjoying my freedom every bit.

Thank You all . My only suggestion one should look in the past to find a way into the future. More on my experience next time.

Congratulations sushi, sounds like you are winning this hands down.

We live in a world where we expect instant gratification. Saving for something that we want and anticipating the pleasure rather than using our credit cards.

Thankfully, as you noted, there are many benefits in a short period of time, and those other benefits that will last a lifetime. While quitting, I suppose we feel less freedom rather than more, so the best is saved for later. It is when we are finally free do we realize just how much it took from us. So yes, enjoy each new smoke-free experience and be grateful. These wonderful days can last forever. Someday, we may take them for granted. That is why N>O>P>E is iimportant and why learning about nicotine and why we smoked is important too. We can quit smoking and stay quit.

Be free. Be happy. Be grateful.

It takes an instant to stop smoking.

It's just the next one that keeps us hooked.

Thankfully, I smoked my last 469 days ago.

Congrats on 6 weeks!!!
