You will want a cigarette immediately and that's normal
Patches and medication help.
Drink ice water.
You may need to vent very strongly every day.
Connect with other quitters.
Expect to gain at least 45 minutes a day.
Chew gum. A lot of gum.
Sooner than you think, you will breathe easier.
You will still be coughing for a while.
You sleep a lot better.
You will get better dental check ups. And less colds.
Almost inevitably, something stressful will happen. It's a test. Take it 5 minutes at a time.
Never forget that you are one puff away from a habit.
Your skin will clear up. The circles under your eyes will disappear.
Food tastes better.
You can take a deep breath without coughing.
You will have a wider circle of friends.
You may need to go on antidepressants.
Take it five minutes at a time. Don't worry if you have to extend your meds, or your patch. You will get through this.
