Quitting in 12 days

Hi everyone, am new here and frankly nervous that I can’t do this. I’ve been an on off smoker for a long time and this whole covid thing ramped things back up for me. I have young children and know I need to stop for good for them. Help! I feel scared that I can’t

Hi Elibabub and welcome.
You have come to the right place
I am also only on this website a month or more now. And the support you are about to receive here is over whelming.
Please don't be scared to do this. You can do this honest you really can. I am now 9 days cold turkey as i have just had some surgery done and I swore I wouldn't smoke after and I haven't had 1 since and it's a great feeling. I no it's early days yet you have to be in the right mind set that you want to do this and you won't miss then atal. I got the allen carr book best thing I ever done I read it if I feel a craving. If you have no smoker around you it makes it
a lot easier. I mean what the worst that is going to happen when you put that final ciggeratie out?
Things can only get better and better. Just think how good you will smell and your hair be fresher and your clothes
Its all positive from that final ciggeratie.
I hope you get the push you need.to get started and remember your not giving anything up Okie. It's all an illusion and you are setting yourself free. 💪💪🚭🚭

I whole wholeheartedly agree.
I read the book slowly and deliberately believing every word Allan said. I was on the last few chapters and Already knew I was going to smoke my last smoke two days ahead and sure enough, My last smoke took place as I was reading the last sentence in his book on Thursday night the 6th of February 2020. And Yippee, I haven't had one since.

Welcome. There is nothing to fear but fear itself. It will immobilize you into doing. That is the worst thing. Who cares if you don't succeed the first time as long as you don't give up on yourself? We all come out of curiousity, full of doubt that we can quit smoking or we would have done it a long time ago. Who would think we could be addicted to something that made us gag? Warnings over the years go unheard because we have to rationalize why we smoke. Deep down we know we are addicted and would love to quit if we could.....we just believe we can.
We are proof that it can be done. We have been brainwashed by tobacco industry and other smokers that it helps relieve stress, anxiety, is cool, and so many other lies. We went along with it because we didn't believe we could escape the addiction. Well you can.... and you will
Forums are great for advice, experiences, support and friendships. You are not alone , nor are you judged. We all started out just like you.
Read some stories and think positive. Research and learn about nicotine and you. Read Allan Carr's book. I will endorse it 100% even though I quit before I read it. And very easily. It is truly a mind game. Accepting the new life without a cigarette in hand , filling that void, and knowing that smoking never gave you anything. Changing how you percieve smoking is key. Change your desires. Embrace being a non smoker.
You will do just fine.
