Champix

I have used Champix before, and it was the only product which helped me at least for 5 years. I only had a morning dose with no evening as I had nightmares. Now I use the double dose and take the evening dose earlier, I still have trouble sleeping and wake up very early, which makes me a little tired during the day. I don't know whether its the medication or lack of sleep. I am now on my usual busy life style, whereas I relaxed for 3 days before starting any major project before. The question is how long does champix take before it doesn't effect you at night? Anyone?

Hi Softly40
I also used champix, I did not have nightmares as such but really vivid dreams and sleep was difficult.
I did complete the full course, that's when the dreams stopped, I still struggle with sleep to this day, I am not sure why. Being tried is probably a mixture between lack of sleep and changes to your system that occur when you stop smoking.
I am now 3 years smoke free, hang in there you get do this
Good Luck

Thanks Storm I hope its just my body assimilation and not long term. I will be checking in with my GP next week and will see what she says. Thanks again.

Hi softly40, I am on my 5th week of champix and 12 day smoke free. Don’t need to smoke anymore, unfortunately I am having issues sleeping, never been a good sleeper but it feels worse now. I think I am actually having physical withdrawals of insomnia and sweats the last week ,hard just to blame champix as I haven’t realised you will still have physical withdrawals. I am going to persevere as it really has felt “too easy” so don’t want to stop tabs too soon. I have mild anxiety and found a natural losenger called rescue pastilles $10 at Woolworths atm. I have one just as going to bed last 2 nights and think I dozed off a little quicker and not as many wake ups. Hardest thing is lack of sleep, leaves all your defences exposed. Good luck

I took Champix 12 years ago and the only side affect for me was vivid dreams and the nausea if you take the tablet on an empty stomach. Is it possible you guys are going through the last pangs of the addiction? Or even still adjusting from the habit of many years?

Don't forget to read Allan Carr's book . I posted the free link. Reinforcement of reasons to quit and alleviation of the fears are vital i think. I recommend the book to everyone. You can quit smoking with the right mindset.

i wake up a lot from the champix, but principally from the crazy real dreams i have. Fantastic dreams, loving it. last time it was nightmares, now they are fun and memorable. keep at it and i tell myself they will be good, always reinforce to myself they will be great dreams, and they are fantastic, psychosomatic probably but working for me! makes up for all the boring times when quitting, makes me want to go to bed earlier too
