Me and my husband have been trying to quit for the past year and now that I am pregnant, yesterday was day 1 of our quit journey. Over the last 12 months I have cut back from 40 cigarettes to ten cigarettes per day. On my first day I actually started crying because I wanted a cigarette so bad but my husband managed to calm me down. So today is my second day and I am feeling pretty confident. I really get these first 3 days out of the way. Reading other peoples stories I can tell this is the hardest.

Hi

yes, I think the first 3 days of any addiction would be the worst.

I'm betting that you find it pretty easy to not smoke.

The people that have been addicted to smoking for decades seem to have the most trouble, but not all.

Once people make their mind up to Quit, it doesnt really matter how long they've been smoking.

Believe and have an easy Quit

schedule 17 Feb 2019

It is a few days trade off for the rest of your lives Mony. Congrats to you and your hubby for both making the wise choice to quit this disgusting addictive habit and looking forward to brighter future with your new child. As you have cut down over the past year and maintained it, you are familiar with the 4D's and coping with the cravings. You know they only last a few seconds or minutes, and are no worse than other cravings you have had before

. Accepting your decision whole heartly does help it go faster and smoother. Look forward to being free It truly never gave you anything and never will.

The best to both of you on your journeys.

Thank you for your comments guys. I must admit, it is alot harder to quit with somebody else but it is something we have worked on for the past year and agreed we didn't want to be stinking of smoke around our kid to be. Coughing etc... I am not actually familiar with the 4 D's but I will check it out now.

We actually relapsed yesterday but got back on track quickly, brought a pack and threw half of it out. My husband cried all night because it has taken us so long to quit smoking and it is really frustrating him. I felt sorry for him, but he is the stronger of the two of us and I have only just caught up to where he is.

Anyways again thanks for your comments, any help is much appreciated.

It takes guts and determination to get back on track after a relapse.

Well done guys

I smoked 3 cigarettes today and yesterday but I am still really proud of my progress. I noticed that I woke up thinking about what time I would have my 2 or 3 cigarettes so tomorrow I have decided not to want these ciggies at all.

I started smoking at the age of 15, only 2 cigarettes a day for ten years, and then I took a different road in life and started smoking 15-30 cigarettes a day. The most I have smoked in one day is probably 40 or 50. As I mentioned earlier, I weened off this amount over the past few years and now I am ready to quit entirely. I truly believe the only way to quit smoking is to truly want it. Yes I am loving this site and having everyone to lean on, although I have read some posts stating otherwise, feeling restrictive on what they were allowed and weren't allowed to say.

Say what you want here Mony...just don't use abusive language or scare tactics, this is a cancer site. We are all aware , and have been aware for years of the risks of smoking, and if we chose to ignore the facts rather than face it, .......... Say or Ask what you wish. We all deserve freedom from this insidious addiction. We all benefit regardless of current health. Did you know that quitting smoking is equivalent to losing 90 lbs? Equate that with the stress on your body.

There is no greater gift that you can give to your child, or loved one, let alone yourself. If you don't love yourself, then how do you know what love is? Honestly, i thought about my significant other and how he lost his mom, like a fish out of water.... and even if i couldn't stop smoking for me.... I did it for him. I could not put him through his worst fears again. Nor did i want to go that way..... lol. so lets see if they censor this? truth?

schedule 24 Feb 2019

See they didn't censor it Mony... and my husband quit 2 weeks after me. All the best to you and yours. You can do this, one day and one step at a time. It is a process.. check out my post Givin Up Given Up?. .... You can do this. Both of you!
