So i finally did, my leg is through the fence. I have one smoke left and this morning i decided to use NRT to help get the other through. I have instilled the fear of both smoking and using NRT at the same time will be dangerous and im sticking to it. My last smoke will be at lunch today and then in place i will only use a lozenge when i absolutely have to. I must do this!

schedule 3 Jan 2019

Well done and good luck

schedule 3 Jan 2019

You can do this, take one day at a time. Others have done this and so can you. Every time you say NO is a win.

schedule 3 Jan 2019

Ive tried the lozenge in the first 10 days of my quit and they did ease my cravings. But you got to stay on guard at all times. Any quiver in your mental resolve can break a quit effort.

Be resolute and strong in the head and you'll break this habit Pete. Infact, smash it to smithereens.

So many others have broken away from the smoking ranks and so can we!

And like John (above says) take it one day at a time.

So far so good. Been keeping busy. But im wondering, what does a craving feel like? I dont feel sick, nor coughing or having any episodes? Well not yet at least. Its really good to be able to vent on here.

I have the lozenge, they are a bit rough on the throat bit i will persevere

schedule 3 Jan 2019

Irritability and a lost feeling remained with me early on. But your experience could be different. Just remember that lozenge is is designed to remain between your cheek and gum. If you leave it there it will do its work thru the skin membrane, into the blood stream and up to the brain receptors, while limiting the production of excess saliva . If you limit the production of saliva you can limit the sore throat and avoid the hiccups that can happen too.

We are willing you on

you can do this pete

Well i can say ive hit the 12 hour mark with no smokes. Ive had 3 lozenges since 1130am and am feeling good. Its funny that you can pick the exact moment when you nornal duck out for a quickie. Im actually pondering what the morning routine will be like with no smokes, will provably be faster. Tomorrow i will go to the shop to get something for lunch in the morning, walk straight past the smoke counter and just keep on walkin!!! Thars 36.50 im not spendin!

schedule 3 Jan 2019

just think

you've already got $36.70 in the bank. that could be $366.70 after 10 days

just keep feeling proud. its wonderful to walk past the smoke shop.

its our choice now

Hi PeteF. Day 1 over? Hardest thing you will ever do for yourself. That $36.70 will be more than $36700 after a mere 1000 days. Less than 3 years. Cost annually will continue to grow. You will also live longer and have more time to enjoy the huge "pay rise".

Hey, you tested the waters before the 5th. So thrilled for you.

schedule 4 Jan 2019

Great Job Pete. What ever you are doing seems to be working for you and that is all that matters. Keep thinking of the money adding up and do a few stretches in the morning to take up those few moments where you may feel like something is missing.

My cravings were just mere thoughts, not physical, as are most peoples. Other factors can affect anxiety like blood sugar levels. It is possible to get through this without any cravings. Even now after 8 weeks a happy lnon-smoker i have that missing something feeling when i go out. Doing the checklist, money , keys, smokes.... lol...i quit! Wasn't a craving involved, just an ingrained reaction.

It is wonderful that you are no longer smoking, and that you are learning to live life as a non-smoker, which is a big part of the journey. You seem to be taking it in stride and doing well. Kudos to you. I do however have a question.

You seemed to join with no plan, and i feared you would jump, fail and leave us. You did reconsider and was still anxious to start. Awesome, you know you, and how strong your motivation. Then you say you are going to just use the Nrt if you needed to. Then you ask what a craving is? My question is why did you take 3 lozenges?

I think you have enough desire (mindset) to get through a little "urge or voice saying you need a cigarette. What it is actually saying is "Hey dude, you forgot to feed me, I need to eat. Without nicotine i will starve and die!"

Remember that when he comes a beggin'. This is no stray dog.

Lozenges are definitely a better source of nicotine so do turn to them if necessary. You know you. Trust and Believe in You. Great Job. Show us it is possible to kick the little monster to the curb without a fight!

schedule 4 Jan 2019

Hey Pete.

I'm Exiting the smoking ranks tonight and I hope I never catch up to you.

Stay head strong buddy.

schedule 6 Jan 2019

Hi PeteF. I hope your journey is going well. We are here for you , to share your victorious times and your trying moments. Our stories can help others to learn and identify with . Are you still on the lozenges or had a craving yet? You may or may not ever get them. The Mind is strong, and you are strong headed, so don't rule it out. That would be wonderful if you could prove that.

Do what feels right for you. You can do this!

schedule 10 Jan 2019

How's it going PeteF? Any cravings yet? I am hoping you answer with a No! It is possible to not have any. I think we get them because we expect to. We have been brainwashed to expect much worse that they actually are. Cravings are usually just a fleeting thought to smoke, not physical.

I am sure we are all interested in how you are doing.

schedule 19 Jan 2019

Hi Pete. I hope we haven't lost you. I did write a post that you may be interested in. I hope you will take the time to read my post of "Have you GivenUp GivenUp?". Lots of people make multiple attempts to quit smoking before they succeed. Please read it, and see if you think it would be helpful to you.

Find that motivation within yourself once again. You were so fired up the first time, but maybe just needed a little more knowlege and not expect so much from yourself so quickly.

I do hope i am wrong in my assumption, and that you are just too busy for us. Success stories are always in demand here as well. Hope to be hearing from you again soon!
