been easy nope, been doable though.

I do not have physical cravings only thoughts and that's where the addict lives in my head, so the more time that passes the weaker he gets as no is easier than yes.

I can not today think of one good reason to light up other than if I want to commit slow and painful suicide.

it hasn't been easy and I am happy for that as doing the hard yards really sticks in the brain and well I do not want to go back and try again way to hard so going to make this one stick one day at time and sometimes less.

happy 24 everyone.

Hi IC. Fantastic landmark 100 days and well done for reaching it. You are right of course that the addiction is in the brain and it is beatable. Like you my cravings became thoughts and I could eventually let them go quite easily if I wanted to. Rarely have these thoughts now but have to be on my gaurd. Had a smoke dream the other night and dreamt I was smoking a dog end ( YUK ). Congratulations again. Dobbin

Well done IC. You should not only be proud of your achievement in quitting, but also the positive impact you've had on the lives and quit attempts of other members. I know I've appreciated your input and insight.

Hey IC, that is fantastic. I have to echo Gebstar's sentiments - you have been an inspiration from the first day I posted on here. Your humour and positive, yet realistic approach and responses have been second to none. You've kept me smiling with your mickey-taking and I have a lot to thank you for. WW x

Well done IC, what an achievement. I know how hard it is. I have been really struggling today with thoughts about smoking? Like how cool it would be to have a smoke? And I've had to keep telling myself all day that it's not sexy or cool to have no teeth, and to gasp for breath because cigarette smoking destoyed your teeth, your lungs, your looks and your life! BUGGER! This is addiction eh, and I should know as I am a recovered alcoholic as well and I have been sober for 20 years now (thankyou god), but I can see now that I've used cigarettes to fill up that hole in my soul and to deal with everything in life😬 no wonder I am finding quitting smoking so hard? Yet I really don't want to smoke or go back to being a smoker, cause for me one is never enough and a thousand is to many and smoking cigarettes is so destructive to our bodies and dying from a smoking caused illness is just horrible. So I guess just for today, I will not pick up a cigarette, no matter what. I hope you don't mind me getting all this out and I hope you find more strength to keep carrying you on.😎

    Miss lizzy,
its been a tapper off for me on quitting things that are harmful to me all sorts of strange drugs alcohol included then other addictions like gambling.

smoking was/is the last one that was super destructive and I think because its the last one its been super hard and still is as in dealing with me and whats left.

i just brake out crying sometimes and i don't even know why well i do but i am still in denial :( well sort of.

so yes smoking will not make anything better it may give a relief for a very short period but you know from smoking and drinking what follows after is worse the way it feels inside.

so yep its tough no 2 ways but guess we have to learn new ways to cope and that takes time also and some days are better than others as you know.

but the smoking fix maybe it worked for the time we needed it too now its on to healthier options well i do try.

so feel free to share how you feel because i do understand its not easy feels like someone just ripped the rug out literally and i am 100 days old trying to find my feet and yes i will get there but in the mean time it might look a bit strange but all new growth looks weak and spindly but turns in to strong branches with time.

ok i will shut up :) but i understand that's what i am saying.

    Ah Miss Izzy,
Hang in! I am a long-time recovering alcoholic and addict myself...in all honesty, I think giving up my gin was the hardest withdrawl I went thru...not that not smoking is a piece of cake...my husband and quitting partner says no nicotine is the hardest withdrawl he went thru.....as long as we don't smoke!

This web page is "my rock" right now. Thank you everybody! We are all such "cool cats!" Happy weekend! Going to a street fest, tour some galleries and listen to a little swing tonight...am sure to smell cigarettes....I am grateful to be a non-smoker!

Hi, IC, I'm just checking on you - had to scroll through a lot of pages to find an old post of yours. Not seen you comment on anyone's posts so I was a little worried.
Hope you're ok. Please pop a message on one of my posts.
