Just seeing that lone cigarette in the package sent fear down our spine.
No milk, no coffee in the morning? Well it can wait unless it was for the baby. The kids can eat toast.
But smokes? Where's the car keys?
Nicotine rules. We would not let anyone else tell us , no demand us to do it's bidding. So why do we let it?
Most of us , perhaps all of us, have tried to quit smoking at some point and failed or you wouldn't be here. We failed and accepted that failure and accepted that as fate.
When your car won't start, do you just accept that and let in rot in the driveway? Of course not, you take it to a mechanic to fix. Or fix it yourself . Only you can fix your way of thinking though by learning.
That is why this site works . We learn. We are empowered. We start to learn and see things in the different way. We learn how to fix our thoughts. We see others succeed and we start to believe that we can too. We are all aware of the same enemy.
While nicotine is the enemy that has kept us addicted and the brainwashing that keeps us making excuses....what is the real reason that you haven't quit? FEAR
My post on acronyms for fear got a couple great responses. Thank you . Softly pointed out that FEAR is in all walks of life, not just a fear of quitting smoking.. Perhaps in moving, in furthering education, a change in career or a simple task.
An acronym fitting of fear.....FINDING EVERY ABSENT REASON.
We let our minds rule. Good and Bad.
Why are you afraid of the dark?
Why are you afraid of snakes? Did you get bit? Is there a reason or an excuse. An absent reason.
In the beginning I was afraid to touch a computer for fear of getting a virus. I still can't do simple things, because I don't find a need to, but when I did catch that virus causing the screen of death I found information on how to reinstall windows and saved my computer. We can DO things when we LEARN to. And when we lose the fear.
I had nothing to lose, so I learned and BELIEVED that I could save it. So I learned and lost that fear. It felt amazing to do something that I had never thought I could do. Now I know that I can do much more than I thought I ever could, if I want to. I could change my own oil, but I would rather learn other things. Maybe I am just lazy. It' ok to be lazy, at least it's a valid reason. BUT if I WANTED to I BELIEVE that i could.
Stop finding unfounded reasons to delay. Stop making excuses. Learn , Believe and Accel in all avenues of life. It feels great.
