Hi Guys,

Hope you all are doing well in your smoke free journey.

Just received some major family sibling drama news and I feel like smoking right now.

I bought a packet and a lighter. They are in my bag as I type this. I feel so low. I have been dealing with with issues, work stress, and now sibling drama.

I don't know why I'm typing all this. I know better but I feel so hopeless. I must be tired. I should go home and sleep early.

Any advice?

I am so grateful and appreciate all the comments. Thank you all. After my struggle to quit smoking , I knew better than to start again. Nicotine was my Slave master and no matter the stress I refuse to allow it to sneak back into my life. Thankfully I am still nicotine and smoke free.
I always feel better coming here and seeing stories of other people who are on the same journey.
All the best to you all and may we be strong in our life as non-smokers.

    Hi Kennie,
I hope you got through your added sibling stress. I got through yesterday with added stress from my daughter. She made it clear that I'm not welcome at her house over xmas. It spiked my stress levels hugely and I went to bed early and today I'm as cool as a cucumber to handle anything. She lives 500 kilometres north and I won't have the 7 hour drive thru one of our busiest cities, of which is a hotspot for the covid virus and all!

I hope things look a little better after a good nights sleep. Please don't throw away your success , it would be such a waste and a shame to go back to what you so wanted to escape. Hugs.

Welcome back Kennie, yes follow these instructions....1. take the packet of smokes and your lighter into town or somewhere and throw them in the bin....2. go back to bed and do some deep breathing, rest and recuperate.....3. Every day practice NOPE (not one puff ever).....4.....come back again for us to help you further. 5...Read and follow the advice above.

Hi Kenny. Do know better than most that smoking is not the answer nor will it relieve stress. Go to sleep early and things usually look better in the morning.
I am glad you turned to us rather than regarding a cigarette as your friends. Lately we have had some personal situations but before us but I don't think anyone minds. We are here for one another and understand how life can throw some curves. We just need to remember that being a smoker will resolve the issues at hand but are likely to cause issues in the future.

Congratulations on your two years! Be proud of yourself and remember that you may be able to change some things within your power , but accept things that you cannot. Think positive, things have a way of resolving themselves.

Hi Kennie, I appreciate your decision to come here and express your problem. We all are here to support each other.

My advise to you is in your question, 'Go to sleep', cause sleep gives you some 'time' to think about problem and 'time' is the best solution for such dramas.

Everyone has his/her situations. Just remember that there were stressful situations when you was a smoker and cigarette didn't relieve those stresses, it(cigarette) never helps in easing the situation. It's just an illusion created by nicotine.
After being a successful quitter for 2 years, you know it very well that smoking will never help you in this stressful situation. You are already a non-smoker and non-smokers never need a cigarette to tackle stresses in life. Just keep in mind that there are all other options except smoking to relieve stress.

I hope that till the time my comment reaches you, you would have found your solution(which is other than smoking).

Don't worry! Remember smoking is not going to solve the problems you are facing. Even if you smoking the things around you are going to remain the same. In fact not smoking and taking rest may definitely put you in a better situation to face them and also make you feel more confident about yourself.
