I have gone 54 days cold turkey from a miracle. I never made a decision to stop smoking I made a decision not to continue. I smoked for 40 years 30 to 40 rollies a day. I had a health issue and was rushed of to hospital at a moments notice, I was there for 7 days and was unable to smoke, when released I decided not to continue and here I am smoke free. I have had two heart attacks and been to hospital in a diabetic coma. I was here for heart and diabetic problems again. The penny dropped, cigarettes are killing me, for seven days I told myself over and over how stupid I had been, I had no intention of stopping on the day I went to hospital or on any day. I was going to smoke forever and was adamant that I enjoyed it. I don't want to be stupid any more and I thank my angels for sending me to hospital and saving my life.

It's funny how we can look at adversary as a blessing. We were spared, you and I. We were lucky to have been given a second chance. So yes we can thank our angels and blessings for that!

It is easier , I should think, to quit on your own terms, rather than feeling like you don't have a choice and you have to quit if you like it or not. Unless of choice we have to choose life over smoking. Even then , many people just don't believe it is possible and afraid to try! So congratulations in taking the steps and believing in yourself. We can quit smoking!

For the record, I quit a year before my stroke, which may have made the difference in my wonderful recovery.

Make the decision to quit smoking now before it is too late people. We have the power, don't let nicotine rule your destiny!

Hi Grays I love it how you say you made a decision to not continue smoking rather than a decision to quit smoking. All the best 😊

Congratulations on 54days Grays, we all have reasons for not continuing to smoke. Yours was mostly black and white given to show you in some way changes needed to be made. It is a hard lesson to learn, but we are all better for not smoking in so many ways, these benefits will not disappoint you in the future, your health scare is behind you. Enjoy your freedom and new rewards that you can feel and see easily. Keep in touch
